Sound Question
Not sure if this is a software question or a hardware question but I am need to TV cards and everything.
I am wondering how is sound used with SageTV. I see that there is a WinTV PVR 250MCE which has jacks on the card to support RCA inputs for sound but it is only used for WinXP MCE2004. How do I pump sound out with SageTV? If I run a server in the back and run a client up front does sound also travel through the ethernet? Thanks! |

Sound gets pumped out of whichever computer (Server or Client) is playing the video. You would use your soundcard for this. A client will be any normal PC or something like the Hauppauge MediaMVP.

Cool thanks.
Now if I have a Dolby Digital card, will SageTV support it? |

Sage will support whatever the encoder card supports. The Hauppauge and all the cards I know of only support Stereo. You may have success playing DVD's with DD audio through Sage and outputting via digital.

Gotcha.
I was looking and the PVR 250 and saw there is a MCE version with RCA auto inputs, what is the reason for that and will the card work with SageTV? |

The card should work fine it is just an OEM card for MCE. I think all of the newer 250's have the RCA inputs. If they don't they will have an1/8 audio jack that you can get a breakout cable to RCA if you want. I think the only real difference of the MCE card is possibly an FM tuner.
