What is the optimum CPU for Client

I have just ordered a biostar mini system that will take an Athalon XP CPU. I don't want to put a huge CPU in it as I want it to be quiet as possible with just enough power to do the job well. What do you think the optimum CPU would be for the right balance of power and cool running ???

I can't tell you the "optimal" CPU, but I can give you the numbers from my systems.

Athlon 2500+ (Barton) 25%-35% loaded on playback. No problems with Overlay or VMR under DirectX 8 and 9. GeForceFX 5200.

VIA C3 1000 (Neamiah) 55-65% loaded on playback. On this system, I can not use VMR (it brings my CPU loading up to 90+%) under DirectX 9. S3 chipset on my EPIA motherboard.

I had a problem finding a slow Athlon and the reason that I went with the Barton was that it does run cooler than the older CPUs. Under normal conditions it runs at 46C, but I can push it to 52C when I run SETI@Home
