Results with v1.7.21288 drivers from Hauppauge

Please respond to this poll if you have tried the 1.7.21288 drivers (which are available from shspvr.com) with SageTV.

I'm trying to decide whether to update my two 250s drivers. I am using 1.7.21199 right now with very few problems (I get occasional minor audio hiccups).

Thanks!

With my two 250's (15 versions) I don't get audio from the second card. I don't in the latest Hauppauge version or the older 21199 either.

The audio hickups have been around forever. Are these latest supposed to fixt that?

I'm not aware of anything someone has said to suggest that the audio hiccups are fixed.

However, I actually think my audio hiccups are either entirely gone or almost gone in the 199 version.... I'm still watching some recordings that were done on an earlier driver set where the hiccups were somewhat frequent. On the newer recordings, I can't say I've actually heard a hiccup for sure.

No hickups sounds great! Now if only Huppauge can fix the no sound bug I would switch. I try every version . NOTE I never had audio missing from the first tuner and if I had one tuner I would probably be running the latest Hauppauge drivers.

I've got one on s-video/stereo miniplug, the other on RF cable, running on XP w/all Windows Update patches as of a few months ago. Both of my cards are iVTC-16. I wonder if the card rev. is the significant difference. I got Hauppauge to accept the return of a 350 for a iVTC-16 250 due to the rumored incompatibility between 16s and 15s. Perhaps you could *try* to get them to do an exchange? Or maybe somebody with a 15-based 350 would like to trade with you?

I may look into that. The other users I have talked to with the problem all use (including me) RF on both. I wonder if I try the svideo/audio plug side it would work. I don't have a cable box but I could rig something up as a test.

Well so far the results are pretty thin on my poll. I guess that not many people have tried these drivers?

I have two cards and all is well. My problems getting two cards to work were due to motherboard compatibility problems, nothing to do with the driver version.

I have a tech support call into Hauppauge so maybe something will get resolved. Anyone that is using a newer driver with two cards please specify if you are using RF on both or not. So far that is a common setup between the users experiencing this problem.

I updated to these drivers yesterday and had no problems running 2 X 250 cards. Audio was working on both. Video quality is good.

This afternoon something happened.... and I've lost audio on one of the cards. TV input is via RF cable on both cards. I've rebooted and it hasn't fixed the problem. I may try removing and reinstalling the cards in Windows tomorrow to see if that helps any.

Sounds like further confirmation that using the RF tuners on more than one card isn't supported by recent drivers.

I have been able to get audio working again on the 2nd card. I uninstalled the cards through Device Manager, rebooted, then installed the drivers again when prompted. Opened up WinTV2000 and audio was fine. Opened up SageTV and I've got audio again on both cards.

I should clarify that when I lost audio yesterday the video recording properties (brightness, contrast, colour, sharpness) jumped back to their default values in SageTV. I was watching one channel when SageTV went to record another (using 2nd tuner) when this occured.

I will try the new drivers this weekend again with the open WinTV2000 trick just to confirm. I could not trust them to stick with them if that wasteh case but it could help Hauppauge or Frey in troubleshooting.

I opened WinTV2000 to confirm it was OK, closed WinTV2000, then opened up SageTV. I've also turned on intelligent recording to try to re-create the problem - lots of channel changing, recording, etc. Its all still OK this morning - audio on both cards.

Have you tried a reboot then launching Sage and not WInTV? Maybe WinTV just sets something in the registry the first time it is launched to fix it up.

Tried this tonight and still no audio on the second tuner. I have had a reply from Hauppauge though so we shall see if they can figure it out.

No problems here on 2 tuner and 3 tuners systems. These are marginally better video quality than previous builds.

Never had the audio bug and I have used the last several 'beta' builds before this.

mlbdude - I don't know if opening and closing WinTV2000 first does anything at all. I haven't been able to 'break' it again as yet, so I can't try anything else at this point.

My 2 cards are on different IRQs in Windows. OS is XP with SP1.

Every time I've tried any version of drivers from the shspvr site, I've ended up having to blow away my SageTV installation and start from scratch using the Hauppauge drivers.

I've heard of other folks having good luck with these drivers, but unfortunately my own experiences have been decidedly bad.

mlbdude: Hope you have better luck with Hauppauge support than I did. The response I got was that multiple tuners in a single machine was not supported by Hauppauge.
