nVidia Dual TV color Calibration

Any news on getting the color calibration to work with the DualTV yet?

Thats bloody awful.

I had to recalibrate (and still doing) my two hauppauge cards when I went to the 93.71 drivers. But mine arnt near as bad as that

The only reason I'm holding off buying is the lack of support for the DualTV. What, does Frey just not CARE that their software does didlysquatpoopydoo with the BEST dual tuner capture card on the market ?!?! I mean W T F ? Beyond works... lets go beyondTV and give up on Sage... is that what Frey wants?

*I shudder at that thought... just so you know*

I must admit to being frustrated as well. I've had my DualTV for quite a while now, and fully expected full support for the card to be available in Sage before too long. I think that the problem is actually with the nVidia drivers, not Sage, but in any event the result is the same - I have a poor image that I can't adjust in Sage. It doesn't matter that the overall image quality is great if the color balance and brightness are way off.

I really hope this gets fixed soon.

Andy.

The OEM has to allow access to the settings, not Sage. nVIDIA wrote in MCE support, so it can be adjusted with that product. VistaView is in the same boat.

I like nVidia, but they look like microsoft lapdogs. For example Narflex said awhile back they had tested Nvdia drivers that allowed multiple Nvidia cards in the same machine, yet they've never released the driver. If you can get a response from tech support I believe they still tell you some bull about how MCE doesn't support it and that is why it isn't possible. Apparently they know it can be done in Sage yet won't release the driver.

I have been talking to Sage support and have been assured there is discussion with nVidia about this. I am not so peeved at Sage (although they really should not list it as supported with problems like this) as I am with nVidia, they are just releasing trash these days. Who cares what the specs are and what the reference cards do for reviewers and testers. It doesn't mean crap if the product end useres pay for does not perform as advertised. And yes the DualTV is listed on the nVidia website to work with applications other than MCE. If this is what they call working, now I know why the 6150 drivers are so bad. Given the hell I had with nVidia's online store as well, I am ready to just rip this thing out and jump up and down on it pretending it was one of nVidia's driver writer's head.

I think they fired all their driver writers and gathered up a thousand monkeys and gave them computers. You know... eventually they will pound out something that is good.

I have seriously considered buying a new card. The pvr 500 I guess. But I've chosen to live with the quality for now, and hope that when I get mce put on my dvr I'll be able to adjust the settings, and they'll carry over. Don't worry, I'm buying hardware with mce :-P

Sage has managed a fix for the DualTV cards. Thanks to Qian and Jeff. Look for it in the next beta.

This sounds interesting... I assume it'll be integrated into sage 6.0 completely?

That's the word I heard. It is a workaround for nVidia's DualTV driver bug. So if nVidia changes something with their drivers, it'll most likely break it.

Sadly I can't get Sage to start when I replace the two attached files. I'm running on Win2K3 SP1 and I get an error message at startup (not using the service) saying that MSVCR71D.dll cannot be found

Does this actually affect the driver's settings, or does it simply allow sage to carry over the settings you set to the live display (via some sort of software method)? In other words, does the actual input capture change, or is this simply a display fix? That's the only question I have. It seems strange to be able to do this without a working driver from nvidia, but then again, I know next to nothing about programming and drivers.

Hmm I didn't think you would need those files...I'll add them as well. looks like you do still need them. I forgot I even had those files. Just place these in your main Sage directory along with the other files.

FILES removed. NO longer needed.

It actually fixes the capture. It allows you to use the calibration controls in Sage to set the tuners how you want them. You could do this previously, but as soon as you exited the calibration screen the tuners went back to some random defualt setting, which for me looked like a$$.

Thanks for that. I found that I needed MSVCR71D.dll and MSVCP71.dll but not MSVCRTD.dll in order to get Sage to start. So far I'm not seeing a problem with no putting MSVCRTD.dll in the Sage directory. Any idea if this last DLL is actually needed?

Andy.

Probably not, but better safe than sorry. And just so you know when the next beta comes out you'll need 1 file that is different. I will not post that until the next beta arrives and I test for sure that it works. Those files you needed are just debug versions of files you already have hence the D in the name. The DShowCapture.dll is a debug version and that is why you need those other files.
