Setup of IR on Fedora Core 5
Has anyone successfully configured IR control on the Sage Linux server using FC5? I have made sure lircd is set to run at boot:
chkconfig --level 35 lircd on Isee /dev/lircd, but how does this interface to the "port" references when configuring tuning? Any assistance would be much appreciated! |

Lirc is only used for IR input so far and is not related to the port option for the pvr150 IR blaster.

I believe that IR control of an STB via the PVR-150 is supposed to work in the Linux OEM. I received this reply from George Oms at Sage Support:
"The Linux version only supports the PVR150 IR blaster currently. We'll add serial control for DirecTV before V6 is finally released." This was in answer to a question I posed about serial control of a DirectTV STB. Since receiving his message, I decided to try IR blasting the STB, that's where I'm stuck. If what you are saying is true, then the Linux OEM version if of no practical use to any buyer with DirectTV, Dish Network, or a digital cable service. This is a significant deficit that should have been clearly stated in their sales material for the product. |

The PVR-150 IR blaster does work but it's not related to lirc. SageTV accesses the card directly to perform ir blaster events. The port is related to i2c devices which should be in /dev/i2c/ .

Thank you, _Demo_, that at least gets me pointed in the right direction. I currently have no /dev/i2c/ device nodes, but I will investigate my kernel and ivtv configurations to see if I can get them created.
