Possible to select which tuner to record?
I have three PVR-250 tuners, two using cable and one using Sat. I wanted to record the season premier of 24 tonight via the Sat. tuner but failed. It would only record on tuner #1 (all tuners were free for the entire evening). I do have tuner #3 (the Sat. tuner) set as the highest priority and have applied the multi-tuner patch. I tried removing and adding the favorite several times. I also tried doing a manual record on the Sat. channel but it still allocated it to tuner #1. Is there a way to force it to record on a certain tuner if it's available?

Agree with you. Would be nice to determine which tuner is primary and which is secondary. Or control as you describe.

I believe SageTV 2 addresses this problem.
In the meantime, this is very hackish, but you can use the lineup differences between the two cards to your advantage. Record something that is only available on the card that you DON'T want to use at the time when your desired program is airing. This will force SageTV to use the desired card to record the desired program. If there aren't any differences in lineups, then you can probably create a difference artificially by adding to the undesired card a channel that you don't actually receive. |

Where do I find the "multi-tuner" patch. I have finally gotten around to using 2 tuners. Sage sees both of them but sometimes if I have something recording on one tuner and try to watch something live instead of using the other tuner Sage TV asks me if I want to stop recording. Other times it doesn't ans uses the second tuner.
Also, sometimes when I am using both tuners I get sound from both tuners. Sometimes one tuner will have no sound. I can tell which I am using by going to sage guide and seeing what is recording on "SAGE1" and what is recording on "SAGE2". This seems to me to be Sage-related since both tuners appear to work fine but Sage seems to get confused. Your help is appreciated. Bob |

Email support for the patch, but it does not sound like it will apply to you. The sound issue is probably driver related. What version are you running and what version of tuners are you using?

I am using a retail PVR-250 with a heatsink and a Gateway OEM card with a heatsink that I got on EBAY.
The drivers show up in device manager as 1.17.110.21050 dated 2/19/2003 for one card and 1.17.390.21219 dated 8/7/2003 for the other card. I think the older drivers were for the OEM gateway card downloaded from the Gateway site since the drivers I already had installed on the machine would not install with the Gateway card. Both tuners appear to work fine except for this audio problem which crops up sometimes but not always. Once it happens I have to close Sage and reopen it. Then I can get both tuners working by recording on one and selecting something else from the guide. Then the recording continues to have sound as well as the live recording. If I start changing channels or something the audio will sometimes go away on one tuner or the other, Very strange. Should I be using different drivers? Thanks for your help, Bob |

I am using two retail 15 version (heatsink) cards nad had issues (100% repeatable not intermittent) with any 1.7 version driver with no audio on a second tuner. SHS provided me with an updated .inf file for the installer and now I am good to go. Not sure if yours is the same problem though since mine was 100% no audio on the second tuner when recording something on the first.

Where can I get this fix? Got a link? I have looked around on SHSPVR but haven't found anything specific.
Thanks, Bob |

I know SHS is working on an end all .inf file and may not have released it publicly. Email him (you can do it via the form) and he will help you out.

Thanks for the help. I got the .INF file from SHSPVR, installed it with the latest drivers and everything seems to work correctly now.
