DVB-S CAM/CI support?

SageTV would suit all my requirements if it supports CAM/CI for DVB-s. I read that the beta 6.012 supports it for DVB-T and DVB-C, so I assume DVB-S is next. The question, are there indeed plans for this? If so is there a shedule?

Almost completed. Tuning a channel works, CI/CAM works, just scanning needed which is being looked at now. No definite schedule but hopefully within the next few weeks.

does that mean you've managed to tune an encypted channel with a paid for card?

Sounds

Can't wait to see it happen! Thanks
I remember from an earlier tryout that there is some sort of tryal version/period. What I need to see if this 'soon coming Beta' is what I want is a tryal license for it and a MVP license (I have the mediaMVP hardware). How can I get these?

I think they are doing most of the testing with the Technotrend S2-3200 card, not sure on the CAM probably T-REX.

CONAX v4.0 tester available here

I just downloaded the beta and am using a digiwave 103g card that works fine with MT and and others. It has BDA drivers installed. What do I select in the setup screen? Digital TV tuner?

The new Beta 6.013 does not explicitely mention DVB-s CI/CAM support and I don't want to waste my two weeks of trial on a version that doesn't.

Hence the question; is this new beta the one I have been waiting for?

I posted this on the other thread:

Looks like Qian has cracked DVB-S though I haven't had a chance to test it myself yet. Should be in the next beta release but may only include support for Astra2.

I see that I will have to wait again. Unfortunately Astra2 is of no use to me, I need Astra1. Any idea when Astra1 will be added?

Has anybody tried this in the latest beta - 6.0.14? The release notes make mention of the DVB-S scanning fix.

I take it Astra2 is the satellite for Sky UK. Is that correct?

Will I be able to use my paid for card to feed all my sky channels into sage? Can somebody give me a clue what hardware I will need aside from a DVB-S card?

thanks
paul

I haven't had time to install the latest beta yet so no idea what satellites have been included. All the testing Qian and I have done was for Sky which is indeed Astra2.

To access your subscription Sky channels you'll need a Common Interface (CI) add-on for the DVB-S card, a Conditional Access Module (CAM) and a CAM programmer. Standard issue for Sky (which uses NDS encryption) is the T.Rex CAM although there has been recent mention that a Diablo Light will work, albeit not that reliably yet it seems.

If you can hang on until Friday (possibly tomorrow evening) I'll install the latest beta and let you know if all is working as it should be.

there is no CI for echostar hardware, if there was I would do it in a heart beat.

Perhaps if we get enough people bugging Echostar INC. that they will get the Kudelski group to release a CI that will work for us.

I'd be willing to bet money that this wouldn't ever happen... They would see it as too big a risk of the ability to pirate their signal, with it exposed to a PC (and yes I realize how it works). They would much rather control the hardware and software used to receive their signal....

I agree with you, its was just a wish, and if their worried about hacking their signal, they need to rethink their current state.

as of right now, I'm using my legit streamed locked subbed echo* card in a software based CI that works quite well.

6.015 Beta

I wonder if this last beta finally fully supports DVB-s and CI/CAM? And if so for which Sat? Still only Astra 2?
(I have a FireDTV s/ci and an Aston 1.07 CAM and a Mediaguard smartcard)
