Favorites and Manual Recording behaviors/bugs?

I just missed The Nine pilot that aired last night. It was set as a Favorite but SageTV didn't record it. Looking at the time it was aired, there were no recording conflicts with any other show. And the Favorite is still set, I can see the white outline in the Guide. So the question is.. why didn't SageTV record it?

Thinking back, the only explanation I think of is a bug in the software. I remember that I used to set The Nine pilot as a manual recording. But later I set it as a Favorite when I saw it on the guide. So then I cancelled the manual recording of it, thinking that it should record it anyway now that its a favorite, but obviously I was wrong. Could cancelling the manual recording be the cause of SageTV not recording it as a favorite? If yes, then isn't this a bug?

Another problem concerning favorites and manual recording is after resolving a scheduled conflict, certain shows that were favorites became manual recordings. Because once they were recorded, they have the red outline around them, meaning that the favorites are now manual recordings. This is a problem because with manual recordings, SageTV doesn't auto delete them, you have to do it manually. I think this is a bug also.

You can try this with a favorite scheduled some time in the future. It is true that setting a fave as a manrec, then cancelling the man-rec will *temporarily* remove it from the recording schedule, but it will also re-appear some time later when the rec-sched is refreshed.

Not really: you have a scheduling conflict. You override this conflict once by making the lower priority show a manual recording. This one show will then be a man-rec, because you told it to...
If you wanted to make sure one show always overrides an other, which would automatically resolve future conflicts, there is a different option in the conflict screen to do that (Always override in v5 and earlier, Adjust Fave Priorities in v6)

Do you have debug logging enabled? If so, check your logs to see what happened during that recording. If you had a tuner malfunction or something that prevented that show from recording, it should show up in the log. Or if the file got damaged somehow during recording, Sage might have deleted it (and that will show up in the log too).

I think there was sufficient time (a few days) for it to re-appear, but it did not. But yes, I thought about doing a test to see if this is a bug or not.

Ok, so its a feature and not a bug But I think there are a few ways to improve this feature. One is to add this to the Conflict screen option: "Move this Fav/scheduled recording priority above (name of conflicting shows)". This will not set it as a ManRec, rather it just moves the priority of that Fav up the priority list, just like it would in the Fav manager. Another option is to have a feature to remove the ManRec status from on a single file or the entire folder of a particular serie. So then SageTV can handle the deletions instead of the user having to manually deal with it.

I have debug enable. I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with my tuners as they have never acted up before, but I'll look into it to see what happened. Thanks.
