Hauppauge USB2 and 350s

I see where the hauppauge 150, 250, 350, and 500s are all supported via linux edition. I understand, maybe only a litle, that the USB2 is basically a 250 that has a USB2 interface to the PC instead of a pci slot connection.

So, does this mean with appropriate linux USB2 drivers and the 250 software loaded that external USB2 devices will be recognized and used by the Linux SageTV5?

I am growing tired of Winxp issues with USB2 hauppauge devices...

Thanks,
utsailn.

I don't think it would work like that. It's not like the USB2 version is like a generic storage device.

It's interesting that you have problems in WinXP.

I own both a 250 and USB2 versions and the USB2 is rock solid whereas the 250 drivers cause a crash every now and then......

Question

This is kind of a bump.

So... is the Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 supported under the Linux version? Since it's not listed along with the other tuners I'm assuming the answer is "No."

I contacted sales about this the other day. It's not supported by sage at this time. I've been using the pvrusb2 along with a 350 and 150 in mythtv for the last month or so though and it's working quite well using the latest video4linux driver (http://www.isely.net/pvrusb2/pvrusb2.html). The pvrusb2 is supported right in the kernel starting with 2.6.19 (this doesn't mean sage will automagically work with that kernel though).

Hindsight 20/20 - just to clarify, my previous message does not intend to advocate mythtv over sage... I hope it was clear that I'm interested in moving FROM myth to sage myself, I was contacting sales to see if I could quickly migrate with my current equipment.
