A180 - No Signal in Sage
I rebuilt my HTPC w/ the following:
ECS 648FX-A Mobo P4 2.8 Ghz 1GB Ram PNY GeForce 6800 128MB 2 X Hauppauge PVR 250's 2 X Avermedia MCE A180's US Robotics 5416 Wireless Card Western Digital 120GB (40GB, 80GB partitions) Maxtor 240GB (64KB clusters) Western Digital 120GB (64KB clusters) WinXP Pro, completely up to date Current drivers, for all h/w Sage 5.x(whatever is on the site now) The system worked for about 1.5 days. When using the program guide to choose a HD channel today, I had a spontaneous reboot. Since then, I get 'No Signal' for either HD card. Analog tuning works fine. Rebooting doesn't help. However, using the app that came with the 180's, I can tune and view HD signals. I've tried overlay and VMR9. I've toyed with video quality settings. I found a reference to a seeker/fast_mux_switch=true setting in sage.properties, and changed it to false, with no success. I'm using Intervideo CSS decoder (the only other one I have is Sage's. Has anyone experienced this, or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance! |

Hey, were you ever able to fix your problem? I just added an additional A180 to my already existing A180 and I don't get a signal on the 2nd one, even though #1 still work. I'd really appreciate your help.

I did, but I don't know how helpful my experience will be.
When I selected Digital TV Tuner in the Sage setup, it never successfully tuned. I continued on through the setup and things ended up working okay. Also, I had remapped some channels which really hosed things up. That took a lot of fixing so, if you can avoid that, do. Finally, after I had one card working, I added another and went through the same thing (No Signal and no stations at setup). However, restarting Sage corrected this. I doubt that's very helpful; I assume you're able to view HD using the included app, right? I think I read on the forums here that Sage may be more sensitive to signal strength, which might explain this problem. Good luck! |

Hey thanks for your help. Yes, unfortunately that doesn't help me, I still don't get any signal on the second A180 card.
I think I will just return the 2nd A180 card and get another HD card in addition to my working A180 instead. Are there any other good cards out there that will work together with my A180? Any suggestions?

I suggest restarting your server and running a channel scan on the adapter.

I second the suggestion on the channel scan when you add the second card (probably worth it on the first card too). I was having problems with my second digital tuner until I ran the scan. So far that seems to have fixed it.
BTW I have an Avermedia A180 and a vbox DTA-150. |

A channel scan show only 25% signal strenght on the adapter with the message "No Signal". It's so weird.

It's working now! I reinstalled both cards, and for some reason on the second card you have to do the channel scan and have to let it run ALL THE WAY THROUGH. That made it work for me. I'm a happy camper now. Thanks for all your help.
