More testing results

still no go w/ DHCPd running on the router. Laptop grabs an IP over wireless and that's a feat in itself as flaky as that thing has been w/ wifi. So the IP's are being doled out. I ran Wireshark (new name for latest Ethereal) and fired up the MVP. It's still pitching the same fit, but now I have logs to post. Hopefully it's something simple that I'm missing.

initial test.pcap.txt
2nd test.pcap.txt

Oh yeah, the version #s for the MVP:
Rev2.04
fw 1.1.34/1.1.34 from the setup screen

Hi all,

I had to rebuild my server due to a system issue. I thought I would leave the firewall on this time to determine all ports being used by SageTV and products. Here's the snip of my regedit file which contains all ports I opened. The entry for SageTV MVP 2 is what I had to open to get it to work even though a version 1 was working fine. I used logging in XP firewall to determine which packets were getting dropped.

Question Wish I knew what the heck is going on.

Darnedest thing happened after I made that post. Went back to the MVP software and played around w/ it, sage, and wireshark for 15-20min. Got good responses to the MVP software on the ARP prot; never did w/ Sage. Dang I wish I'd had shark running when I switched back to Sage's server that last time. Plugged the MVP back in and BANG the IP address shows up w/ the Preferred 'X' in the setup screen where a 'O' had been when it linked to the MVP software.

I don't get it, but for now it's working. Nvidia is messing w/ my desktop again and I need to reboot, but if I do that the MVP-Sage link may never return.
