TV-out and interlacing question...

I have been fooling around with the TV out on my PC for the first time in a while... What im seeing is that DVD/Divx files play pretty well out of the PC, and files recorded by a PVR-150 look like garbage in comparison. Is this due to the fact DVD/Divx files are non-interlaced, and don't have to be deinterlaced for PC display, then re-interlaced out the TV-out?

What type of display and connection, and whose decoder are you using?

Its an old SDTV, connected by composite to the PC. I've tried lots of decoders, nvidia, elecard, cyberlink. There seems to be a loss of detail happening with recordings that doesn't happen with dvd sourced files (either dvds, or divx/xvid rips) I was really just trying to determine if I should upgrade my video card, would be nice to get some decent DVD playback from the PC, as the current card has a lot of interference that I hope is just due to the card being so old, which is a radeon 7000.
