I was wondering if the Search can be modified to use regular expressions.

If I'm trying to find an imported video that I do not know the name of and I know some keywords that must be in the description field like trial, navy, marine...and it finds A Few Good Men.
Right now if I type in ANY of those keywords by themselve then A Few Good Men appear with a decent list of other videos I have.
Is there some way to use all the keywords even though the keywords are not in sucsession in the video details so as to narrow down the search results?
This would be particularly helpful with TV Series were some keywords are found in multiple episodes.
For example "Klingon" would probably show up in about 50 or more episodes.

I'll have a look. Version 1.0 really was just a quick first pass.

Can you reorder the search to be sorted by date?
I download many files, and do not realy remeber what I downloaded before what.

I need it to be shown from last download to first, so I can always look at the latest download.

Thanks

I've had a look and can't see how I can do that. Probably needs a request to Sage to get that added.

I've had a look and can see what I need to change to do that, but I can't get it to work.

I'm obviously missing something, but I can't really understand how the search works. There are a couple of anomalies that I can't figure out.

It seems that in one touch mode I get limited results from Description and Misc fields, but it works fine when one touch mode is not turned on. And changing the parameters for the output sort makes no difference to the displayed sort order.

It looks gr8, I appreciate the work

Can I ask for 2 mre things?

1. can u add an option to configure the search option, from the browser window (not have to go to setup...), in the options menu there maybe?

2.can u add a button, that configures the search option, so it will say:
Name or Date, for a better UI, because I do not want to go through a lot of menus, to just change the sorting method, and a button on the left would be gr8.

Thanks again, for all your work.

Actually strike my last comment, I cannot get it to work, it does not sort differently at all.

I tried going from the Base stv and just loading the serach customizaation, and it does not sort differently at all for me.

I like to view in the Videos by title mode, for Imported Videos, using both the enahncemet options by sage (Quick filter and search with NTE), and it does not sort it out differently.

What am I doing wrong, or is it suppoed to work on another view there?
(I tried also in the Sewarch view mode, and no luck).

some more info:
I am using the "Unofficial secrets" - 5309 thingy
I did not declare any other fields to search in
I do not have .properties or .my files

Sorry, it's a mod for the search on the Search view, not the Title view. I'll have a look and see how the search in that view works though.

Yeah, I was going to edit my previous message and say I now understand that.

I would live it very much if you can change the title view to inculde the sorting method in it.

I do not like the search view as it shows the file names considerably smaller than the title view.

Another issue (if we are taking) I have, is that in v5, the search would search by folder name too, so that if I have c:\heroes\h101.avi, and I look for heroes, it would find and list it too there (in the old title search - regular mode for v5).

Now it does not show it, and i was kinda hoping to have the option to do so. so many movies today download with incoherrant names, but to the correctly name directories...

Thanks for all your help.

Posted a new version of Customize Search 1.2 on the first post.

Contains STV fixes for searching using One Touch Search mode. Both Standard and One Touch search can now search multi paragraph fields like Description and Misc

Could you make it (an option?) that if I enter text and then space and then another piece of text it will do an inclusive search on it.

"house s2" - would find:

housexxx s2yyy
housexx1.s2yy
house e3s2

because when you download, you get many different options for the files, and I think that an opotion like this will enhance the search.

or maybe instead of 1 space, 2 spaces would mean that I want to search for the other part too in the file name.

All this realy means is adding a [.]* instead of a space (a little more than that, but thats the idea).

What do you think?

John, It's been a while, but ... Well, I finally upgraded my Sage Hardware and Software, and not only did I install Upcoming Movies, but my long missed Old 2 Pane Recordings!!! Actually I installed "several" other imports of yours too.

I know you call them "minor" tweaks, but to me they are much more than minor. I want to thank you again for posting these. I love the 2 Pane because it not only sorts by catagory, but always put my most current recordings on top. That makes it so easy to get to recent recording without having to dig them out. I wish Sage just gave you the option to have toggle this feature on in the default STV.

Oh ... Would be great if you also posted some screen shots for each tweak making it easy to see what you'll get after installing.

Anyway, I appreciate your work and hope you keep them updated with new Sage releases and create more.

Note to Andy ... Wondering how come this thread isn't posted on the "List of available customizations" I had to spend some time searching it out. Makes sense, would be convient and would get more visability from others.
