I'm really hoping though that it's out on Friday - the wife and newborn are out of town this weekend - which means it's the perfect time to upgrade Sage

If you really want notification of the beta release w/o checking the forum all the time, you can subscribe to this thread: SageTV Beta Progress Report. I usually post the new version link shortly after it gets released.

On the other hand, if you just want an excuse to visit the forum...

Yep, just don't post to that thread, Andy gets really mad!

It's funny, even though he posts at THE VERY BOTTOM to NOT post on that thread, someone almost always does it!

...why the heck didn't 5.1 have this...
...why the heck is this broken in 5.1...

LOL.

Andy,

Thanks for the reminder. However, can you add the feature so we can be SMSed instead of email? That way I don't have to sit in front of my inbox all day waiting either!

I'm really hoping there are some good updates to the My Music and possibly the My Photos areas.... I haven't put much effort into them to-date, but am really starting to want to use the My Music section....

Can't you just have your email forwarded?

I remember a long time ago that someone posted that they had some sort of task (cron job?) check the forum for them automatically & let them know when there was something new about a beta.

The forum also has some sort of RSS feed, but I haven't messed with it. I hear someone came up with an RSS reader import for SageTV...

But, isn't that exactly what people are waiting for... a new thread about a beta?

There is no such thing as an approximate release time that would give you a good idea of when it will be released... it's a beta in development, so if something important is found at the last minute, it doesn't go out. The latest estimate was already mentioned as "this week"; there are no further details.

I could easily make up a date that has absolutely no meaning... would that be preferable? How about "Today, at 3:14:15 PM". Please note that it is always 'today'.

"today" and "please note that it is always today"...almost got me in trouble for laughing so hard at work. And I know that any little thing could delay a beta and fully understand, was actually just wondering if this week was still a goal. I'll read a yes from your previous post

Well--if it really were "today" at 3:15--then I would win the bet because i guessed today at 3:30!!

I didn't say 3:15... I said 3:14 & 15 seconds. I figured that was a fitting time (unrounded) for all the going round & round in this thread. Oh, I guess that means it doesn't have absolutely no meaning. Oh well.

Anyone got the time and effort required to write a quick batch file to open Internet Explorer to the Beta Forum at 3:14 and 15 seconds today?

yeah, take you right hand (left for you lefties) and hoover over the IE icon on your desktop and at precisely 3:14 & 15 sec double click. If you have the beta forum set to be you home page it will open right up.
