I saw that 5.1 will support DVB, does anyone know if this will include CAM/CI support as well?

hehe, thats true, but back when most the pay programming was still analog they tended to be on nearby neiboring satellites... its been awhile, but it didn't take much more than that (or even that) to move from both extremes.

The current plan is to release the v5.1 beta publicly.

How's that for some news?

Disclaimer: of course, plans could change due to some last minute issues that may pop up, but a release is the goal, which looks likely.

STV Developers: please see this reminder about an important change for the FocusGained/Lost hooks.

I was fairly young when the "big" dishes were popular... my grandfather had bought one for his vacation home, and me and the siblings/cousins loved to visit during the summer (it was a 5 hour drive for our parents) to get to watch "all" the channels. Personally I thought it was a pain to use because of all the different satellites you had to pay attention to.

My grandfather thought it was a pain to own one... to explain, after he bought the satellite, the same guys who sold it to him came back about 2 months later and stole it... Yes, I said stole it!! My grandfather naturally got a replacement (don't know if he used insurance or just paid for a new one) Anyway, not too long afterward, these guys were caught and my grandfather got most of his money back but got to keep the satellite.

I am now one of those people that finds it hard to trust people into the home and to work on things, I myself have gotten the "auto mechanics' mindscrew" one too many times!

What? No joy any more? The quote in that particular post still holds, to some extent.

I think it is just that we have made it to the 5th and final stage while waiting:
  • DENIAL
    .
  • ANGER
    .
  • BARGAINING
    .
  • DEPRESSION
    .
  • ACCEPTANCE

The end of our wait must be near...

Am I going crazy, or did that quote get "re-quoted"? It looks different to me now...

It's all part of the beta process, where things change from day to day. Code & so on gets edited all the time.

Sure do! Trying to predict beta dev is like trying to predict the weather! Partly cloudy with some sun, chance of rain. Yep....partly cloudy with some sun, chance of rain.

Predicting the weather has got to be the easiest thing there is... The weather on the Earth for the next 24 hours will be sunlight, followed by some level of darkness (or vice versa), with periods of cloudiness along with some rain, sleet, snow, and/or other forms of precipitations in affected areas. Winds will be coming from the source direction at varying intensities. Expect more of the same the following day.

That hasn't been wrong in millions of years.

Unless, of course, you are looking for more localized detail, in which case I can't give you specifics, just like the beta's release time.

To get the data I have to remove those 20 channels, let it go for several days so the channels expire, and then add them back in. You have to let the data expire so that you get the third dialog box that asks for the Zap2It channel number.
I hope this is fixed in the new version.

I also hope they fix the program data doesn't tune the correct channel. It happens when the station broadcasts different sub channels during different parts of the day.
One channel does 22.1 (the analog simulcast) and 22.2 (HD) at night. During the day they broadcast four SD channels: 22.1, 22.3, 22.4, and 22.5. Sage just won't tune the correct channels.
I finally got most of the Program guides.

1) I first had to scan all my tuners. This showed me which channels had no program data.
2) I then removed the channels without program data.
3) While I waited the several days to allow the channels to expire I got the Zap2It channel IDs.
4) I then entered the channels manually. In the elusive third dialog box I entered the Zap2It number. The channels were listed with the RF channel numbers.
5) I then rescanned to reset the RF channel numbers to the virtual channel numbers.

I scanned in the evening so of course the channels that were off the air (22.3, 22.4, 22.5) were not corrected.

Now that I have most of the program listings the new version will be released.

It all started around here, after which no one wanted v5.1 any more for some reason. I particularly liked the v6.0 question shortly after that.

I wouldn't say no one. I would love a 5.1 release with bugs fixed (MVP bursting, mvp.bin issues are two big ones) without v6 features or cost.
