Music folder setup
I'm using the iTunes folder locations.
MyMUSIC ......ARTIST ............ALBUM ..................TRACK# TRACK NAME.MP3 ..................TRACK# TRACK NAME.MP3 ............ALBUM ..................TRACK# TRACK NAME.MP3 ......ARTIST In SageTV5 selecting the folder MyMUSIC for music import does not get the data into SageTV5. correctly. How does SageTV5 want the folder set up? Where is this data stored and is it user readable? Is there an easier way to do this like different player software? M$ Media Player is useless. My asked for information is not in the PDF and has been asked before on this forum and not answered. iTunes has terrible sound when playing MP3's. That sounds like it should work. My music folder (.wma only) is D:\Music\WMA\Artist\Album-s\Song-s. I add D:\Music as an import Directory and tell Sage to only look for music. Everything shows up fine. Sage derives the info strictly from the ID3 tags, so make sure they are all perfect. I use a folder.jpg in each album folder for cover art, but Sage will also respect art in the ID3 tag. What exactly are you seeing in Sage when you import your music?

The data you requested
I used your suggested ID3 tag editor.
I checked several songs from several artists and albums. All of the fields in the ID3 tag editor were filled in except "Comment". The list on the right of (Filename, Path, Title, Artist, Album, Track, Year, Genre ...) is correct. Codec is MPEG1 Layer III They were all changed to .MP3 by iTunes from the origional CD. I added the top folder of my music to Sage as "Music". I clicked on "Refresh Imported Media". This is what I have in "Media Center" - "Music". "Artists": Two (2) boxes 1. A blank box with all of my music tracks in it in Artist order. EXAMPLE: (585. Pink Floyd/Dark Side Of The Moon/07 Any ...) 2. A box with one (1) correct artist with the correct tracks in it. "Album": One (1) box with the correct Album for for "Artists" item 2 above. "Song Titles" A list of all of my music tracks as Artist/Album/Track# Song Title - in Artist order EXAMPLE: (585. Pink Floyd/Dark Side Of The Moon/07 Any ...) "Sort by Title" and "Sort by Artist" have no effect. "Search" works. After a search, "Previous Album" and "Next Album" show "Artists" item 2 above. Then they have no effect. I saw no field for "Art Work" The only difference between the Album that worked is a long list of base 16 codes in "Comment" By the way, SageTV5 with the ir unit is a wonderful piece of software. |

It works now
I copied everything from the iTunes directory to another directory.
I ran your suggested tag editor on the whole new directory. Put that into SageTV5 and everything works perfectly. Many thanks for your help. You told and gave me just what I needed. I hope you see this. I don't know how to get a message directly to you. I'll try. |

Similar problem
Hi,
I'm running the latest SageTV v 6 and am having a similar issue. My music was ripped by AudioGrabber, and I've used WinAmp to edit most of the tag info to clean them up for that app... BUT... SageTV does not want to accept the Artist and Album information on many of the songs, even though they show up perfectly in WinAmp. Any suggestions? |
