Problems with "Use Source" Aspect Ratio Mode

Hi all, I know this has been discussed before, but I haven't seen any resolution so I figured I try again.

I was playing with getting some HDTV clips to play thats how I got here again.

Here's my setup:
Resolution 1280x1024
Record settings: Great - 2Gb/hr
WinTV PVR 250
Radeon 9500, Cat 3.4
Sonic Cineplay 1.5 Video/Audio

It's kind of anoying watching 16:9 clips filled to a 4:3 Display so I selected "Use Source" for the aspect ratio.

Results:
HDTV clips: 1920x1080, these play just fine, right aspect ratio, they fill the screen (resized down to 1280x720)
Recorded shows: They fill a box in the center of the screen using about 50% of the width/height centered.

The problem seems to be that when using "Use Source" the video is not zoomed/resized up to the display resolution.

Hope that helps figure out what the issue is.

To get around that I have bound the use source and 4x3 commands to my remote. I have yet to find a way to get Sage to autodetect the format.

Since you can map these functions to a key, I have mapped all 4 aspect ratios to different remote functions as well (I am only using 3 of them currently).

I have 4x3, 16x9, and a 4x3 zoom for Letterbox (106%x135%). The third one is used mainly for Nip/Tuck which broadcasts only in letterboxed 4x3...

By mapping these keys to a remote or keyboard command, you can easily switch depending on source material. However, it would be even better if Sage could somehow detect what it thinks to be the proper aspect ratio.

I was going to say:
"Sage actually seems to get the AR correct, it's just that video won't resize larger to fill the screen."

But for right now, it's working just fine, recordings are full screen, widescreen DVDs and HDTV are letterbox (my display's 4:3) and all fill as much of the screen as they should ie none are centerboxed. That's Murphey's Law for ya, even if you're expecting something to go wrong it might not.

Glad I asked, even if Jeff didn't do anything, it's still fixed for the time being.

Actually it's back. I've been kind of back and forth between the Elecard/Sonic Filters lately.

It actually does it with both, the weird thing is, sometimes it will stretch the video horizontally correctly but not vertically. Is there any way I can get some debug output to send in?

More wierdness, I've noticed that the video will somtimes change size when the OSD goes away. I only ask, because with HDTV support coming, and with V2, Sage will take care of nearly all my HTPC needs, and it would be really great if it were as flawless with DVDs and HDTV as it is with normal TV.
