Mmmmmm, yummy! I think I might opt for the folder style, just so that when I navigate in, I can have a bigger view of the movie cover art.

Mike, these Icons look great. But... to me, they don't really seem to "fit" with the style of the rest of the screen (I think it is the color on the button backgrounds). Maybe if they were all the same color as the animation one. Also, that "Unassigned" does not fit with your typical polish, you must have been dealing with crying twins when you were working on that one. Seriously though, is there any way to handle that one too?
Alternatively, maybe you need a different image or font on the screen title, menu and clock as well... just my $0.02. Keep up the great work. BTW, I have NO SKILLS for this, so please feel free to disregard my comments. Last edited by briands; 09-08-2006 at 06:26 AM. |

Hi,
The "unassigned" folder icon is the sage default. It only appears if you have a video file that has no assigned genre, or a video with a genre that has no corresponding icon. FWIW I like all the colors. Jesse |

I'll second the liking of the colors.

Friggin' awesome. I'll use them, that's for sure.
Once you're done (if you ever are), I'm going to make my own custom MIM zip file that contains all the graphics that I need for my system, then I just have to install one file whenever I need to reinstall them! Love the work.

Well, it seems that a number of people like the colored icons and you (and at least one other very influential person) would like to have a uniform color. So I see only one solution. I'll have to do them both. I will add a second version of all the icons using the color from the Animation icon in the next update. There will be two zip files within the main downloaded zip. Then you can just pick the version you like (Just like I have done with the other graphics sets). After all, this whole exercise is about giving each of us the freedom to customize the look of SageMC how we want. The folder icons are the default in SageMC for when there is no specific genre icon available. Dirk and I are discussing a resolution to that, as it will require some additional code to handle. Lastly, the fonts for the title, clock, etc. are user definable in the properties file so you can change them to whatever you want. I haven't played with that at all for my system, since I have always been partial to Arial myself. Thanks for the suggestions! Aloha, Mike P.S. Thanks for the positive comments everyone!

I still think we need a graphical clock like the one I posted in the MC thread, like this (but smaller):

something like that, although that clock above has a distinct Redmond flavor to it!

I should have an update to the genre icons uploaded tonight in anticipation of the next version of SageMC. I have added a couple new genres (biography and music), and generated complete sets of icons for the upcoming fullsize list view and full size folder view. Additionally, there is now also an icon for the [Unassigned] category and a new Generic icon for genres that don't have a custom icon available yet. I didn't generate separate icons for the variations of genres that have existing icons (such as Science-Fiction and Suspense-Thriller) because they will be unnecessary.
I have also duplicated all of the icons in a uniform blue color. Unfortunately, by the time I was done, the zip file containing one set of icons had grown to almost 6mb. So I have a quick question, is a ~12mb download (for both sets combined) ok? Or should I post the blue genre icons as a separate download to keep things managable? Thanks. Aloha, Mike

Mike, I have been meaning to ask, where did you get your theme for SageMC?

I think so far, it's like 8 beers, but don't quote me on that!
I think 12MB is fine. If someone is still using dialup and SageTV, I have a special place in my heart for them... Heck, the base install of SageMC is like 27MB.

Hey!!! Where's my genre icons!!! I have 6.11 now, and no icons!!! I think the twins need to go to bed early tonight!
Kidding of course. I'm just hoping the power doesn't go out during this storm, so that I don't lose my current recordings!
