SageTV only detects analog receiver of ATI HDTV Wonder
Hello all,
I'd been using my ATI HDTV Wonder with my state-of-the-art (um, 2 years ago that is!) Athlon XP 3000+ with great results. I recently upgraded my Radeon 9800 to a Nvidia 7800 GS (with very happy gaming results!). I have a much older PIII (933mhz/384mb ram) that was lying around, and thought maybe of using it as a HTPC. So I threw my 9800 Radeon into that. I spent much time hooking it up (and crashing windows, and reinstalling windows, etc. etc. etc), and when I finally got it running, SageTV only detects the Analog receiver when I start the setup process. No digital receiver detected. I can get WatchHDTV to pick up the digital BDA tuner, so maybe I installed the correct drivers and such (though there is much debate on what the correct way to install the ATI drivers). Not much confidence in that. May need to muck around a little more. Is SageTV actively checking my slow computer stats and disallowing the HDTV receiver? Check in sage.properties and/or sageclient.properties for a line called mmc/ignore_encoders. See if the card is listed there. If so, remove just the card entry (make sure the Sage UI and service are shut down).

Thanks, but...
Hmm, I checked and saw nothing there related to the ATI HDTV Wonder. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the ATI drivers, but still ended up with the same thing being detected.
Then I tried configuring the analog receiver... managed to get a picture, but boy was it slow. Now was that system related, or decoder related? I've got the Purevideo drivers on my newer system, maybe I should give them a try on the older system before I give it up. |

in Sage, mine is listed as analog also, and it kind of threw me off at first. ATI DTV Wonder Analog AV Capture is how it shows up. But, when I go to actually configure it, all I have to do is pick the digital tuner when I go to set it up. I attached some pcitures to try and help |

Hi NEOSG,
Thanks for pointing this out. At least on SageTV4, it displayed both analog and digital tuners separately (see my attached .jpg--which is actually from the SageTV5 on my faster computer). Maybe these settings carried over with the upgrade? I configured it the way you suggested on the slower computer and it actually worked surprisingly well. Thanks. |
