If only I had the money!

If I had enough spare cash I'd buy SageTV....yup, buy it..lock, stock & barrel!

Then I'd employ enough programmers and support people (with a telephone number!) to produce a piece of software which wipes the floor with MCE 2005!

My birthday's soon...who know's how much I'll get!

How much $$ would you intend to lose in the process? A business can only support so much overhead. Even the best businesses are doomed to fail if there is too much overhead to be supported by the customer base.

Personally i think SageTV is a better product than MCE2005, i have SageTV installed directly over my MCE2005 install, and im perfectly happy with the level of support i get from sage & the forums.

Then count me in! Last I heard, I can add any number of tuners and drives to Sage, and I don't believe that there are equivalents to Placeshifter and Intelligent recording.

I guess you are just the original hard luck kid!

Have you contacted tech support & followed up on their suggestions?

I don't see you following up on a lot of the things people have suggested on the forum to say what happened -- whether the suggestion helped, had no effect, etc. When there is very little feedback on what was suggested and simply more of "it doesn't work", people stop responding. Example: I pointed out where to look in the manual so you could find info on how SageTV finds album art, yet you were still asking how album art is handled & what file it looks for.

Thankfully most of us are

It already exceeds MCE in many ways.. PlaceShifter and MVPMedia Support alone are enough examples of how it does.

As far as reliability.. it is rock solid.. PERIOD. Yeah there are some bugs with the betas (READ THE WORD BETA) Even I complain occassionally on here, but honestly...most of the weird anomolies that I have experienced had NOTHING to do with Sage! 99.9% of the time it was a condition that already existed within my cruddy Microsoft XP installation that Sage just happend to EXPOSE!

This forum rarely has negative users. I believe a very very strong majority are incredibly pleased with the product and its level of support from both the community AND the developers! What is more amazing is how small the company is when compared to Microsoft ........and yet..... they seem to be leading the pack as far as pushing Media Center expecations...Hmmmm

I can't say I was ever excited about any application software before SageTV.

The only thing I can compare my excitement to is when I got my first Commodore Amiga computer and that is saying alot. Sage/Frey Technologies are pioneers in my opinion.

Computing was BORING until sage came. It brings back the fun of tinkering with hardware...a reason to build PC's and Servers...a reason to buy HUGE hard drives that will actually get filled!! Come on what is there not to love about Sage!!??

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

Sure there are things that can be improved, but to totally slam it like that, I don't know. To be sure your experience is not the norm!

Sage has done an outstanding job with their resources to put out a kick a** product!

SageTV is really a nickname for the covert operation codenamed "BROOM"

need I explain what the (codename) "CRAP" on the floor is?

(okay okay, I'll give you a hint: it's Windows MCE)

from me to the guys at SageTV!!!
