I am not here to bury Ceasar but to praise him...

I know the forum is meant mostly for reporting problems. I know the uniqueness for Placeshifter has worn off on many of us.

But here I am in a hotel room away from home, and I can watch the Colonial golf tournament which was recorderd earlier today on my home network.

I never get tired of looking out the window of a plane at 30,000 ft and I do not think I will ever lose the sense of wonder of a program like Placeshifter.

Very poetic and well said. I agree 200% (apart from the fact that I have a fear of flying)

et tu?

I can tell you I am dying to try placeshifting when I am on travel.. (which is often) It is the only reason I have marred my beautiful MacBook Pro with an installation of Windows XP!

If only Verizon would figure out how to pull fiber down my street, I would be all set! Nothing like watching TV on a 2mb upload pipe! Or so I hear...

A coworker of mine has it, works well over the uber high speed links.

Have been working in Germany all week and thankful for Placeshifter every evening. Wasn't so happy about the 70 euros the dreadful Holiday Inn hotel charged for wireless access for the week however!

I was in a hotel whose rate was $395 a night for the room, then still had the nerve to want another $20 a night for internet. I complained on checkout, and they reversed the 4 days of internet for me. Still, I was shocked at not only their nerve for trying to charge it in the first place, but also that they had such a high internet rate.

It is a sad fact that the more expensive a hotel is, the more likely it is they will charge you for internet access.

Marriott and Hilton, for instance, both follow this dictum. Stay at a Fairfield by Marriott, or a Spring Hills Suite (Marriott), high speed internet is free. Stay at a Marriott or Renaisance Hotel and you'll pay at least 9.95 a day for the privalege. Hilton, same thing. Hampton Inn - free internet. Hilton Hotel, at least $9.95 a day. On the face of it, it makes no sense. I usually don't stay at top tier hotels any way. But I can tell you that since this crazy service structure went in place, I make even more of a point about it.

More streaming golf tonight. Man I this Placeshifter is great.

I use placeshifter everyday at work. I'm an NBA fan and its playoff time, and I have the games recorded at home, and login from work with placeshifter and watch all the games.

And just this morning, I brought my car in for service. I had to wait for 2.5 hours for it to be done. To pass the time, I walked to the Starbucks nearby and use their wireless network and watched some TV recorded at home with Placeshifter on my laptop.

SageTV Placeshifter is just simply awesome.

Not a placeshifter yet but love to hear testamonials on real world use. Sound like some happy campers.
