Where did my recording go?

I am testing SageTV, and I am bit confused as to how to make recordings work. I can set something to record fine, but replaying the recording... well, that's a strange topic. Here's what I did.

1) I went to the guide and selected my program to record. Very nice and easy. So good so far.

2) My HTPC hibernates, so I set a scheduled event in Windows XP to wake up 10 minutes before SageTV was set to record and start SageTV at that point.

3) The next morning, I examined my hard drive, and sure enough, I found a 1.8GB file (for a 30 minute broadcast) with the right time and date stamp. Oooh, ahhh, getting excited...

4) I started the SageTV application and desperately tried to locate my recorded broadcast for replay. Went to recordings. Nope, not there. Guide? Not there either. My videos? Huh?

5) Exasperated, I exited SageTV so I could just double-click on the file and play it through Windows Media Player. Looked under the same directory, etc... Yup, file's gone. Not so nice. Not so good so far.

Where did my recording go? And what on earth do I have to do to play recorded broadcasts in SageTV?

Can't tell you exactly what happened but I think it has something to do with your hyernation. SageTV has problems with that right now.

It sounds like your PC went to hybernation before the show completed (or some other reason the recording was not finished). The show is then considered a partial record and NOT added to the recordings list. Then when you exit and restart Sage, it tries to cleanup the loose files and deletes partial records.

Try your experiment again while ensuring the PC stays on and out of hybernation.

Hmm. The timing parameters I set should have precluded interruption to SageTV. Hibernation set off to go after 1 hour of inactivity and SageTV was only recording for 30 minutes. Besides, hibernation shouldn't take place when there is disk activity (SageTV recording). But I'll double-check...

Also, check your Video Diskspace settings in Setup->Detailed Setup. Make sure SageTV actually has some diskspace to work with.
