MediaMVP w/ SageTV 5.0
I was doing a search for mediamvp software and came along SageTV. It will not work with the MediaMVP for me however. I would be more than willing to pay for this software if it worked as advertised.
A.) I have used the MediaMVP and the original hauppauge server software without a problem. The DHCP and the network is fine. B.) I turn off the hauppauge service and uninstall the software. I follow the users manual for SageTV 5.0 and turn on Media Extender and placeshifter server. I unplugged the mediamvp and plugged it back in. I also restarted my computer and the SageTV program. The MVP just sits and cycles through DHCP and "contacting MediaMVP BootServer..." C.) I tried this all again with the windows firewall turned off just to make sure, but had the same result. It seems obvious to me that the service SageTV 5.0 should be running isn't or missed something to get the server running. Can anyone offer any assistance? |

I may not be able to help much, but I can offer a comment. The first time I used Sage TV, I set up a MediaMVP and SageTV 4. It was so easy I couldn't believe it. I just plugged it in and everything worked.
Recently, I just got a new MediaMVP and because it is a newer version, I had to upgrade to SageTV 5. Getting everything working this time was not nearly as smooth as the first time, but it is working now. Yesterday, while I was still struggling to get everything working, I left my MediaMVP at the "contacting MediaMVP BootServer..." screen and just walked away for a while. When I came back later, everything was working. I'm assuming it took a really long time to contact my server. Not sure why, but normally I would have assumed it was stuck when it took so long. |

Go to Start | Run and enter: services.msc look down the list (on the right) for the SageTV service. It should be running. Check the properties. It should be set for automatic, and it should have the logon account set as you configured it during SageTV setup. HTH |

It's possible that your MVP is unable to get a DHCP address now for some reason as well. Try rebooting your router to reset it's DHCP tables. We've seen that fix this problem before.
If that ain't it, then two more things to do to help diagnose would be first to run: "netstat -an" on your server computer to see if SageTV is listening on the server ports. If not, then you should double check to make sure they're enabled. If they're enabled, then you should use Ethereal to see what kind of network traffic is going on.
