USB-UIRT and HIP Conflicts

Hello - two questions:

1. How can I change the repeat delay and also once it repeats change the repeat speed (frequency) when using the USB-UIRT in Sage?

2. I'm trying to use the HIP program to control my external media player and other external applications but I still want Sage to internally control my USB-UIRT. It seems as if both programs are fighting for control of the USB-UIRT and when I use the remote and go UP or DOWN it will often have double entries. I'm pretty sure this is a problem with HIP because I don't want HIP to control Sage at all but it's doing it anyway. How can I stop it from controlling Sage? In the HIP program you are supposed to specify the applications you want it to control and I never told it to control Sage.

Thanks again,
Mike

USBUIRT and HIP

Hello - (sorry for the repost): two questions:

1. How can I change the repeat delay and also once it repeats change the repeat speed (frequency) when using the USB-UIRT in Sage? I find when I press the UP or DOWN buttons on the remote it almost immediately starts repeating unless I take my finger off the button really quick.

Thanks,
Mike

Tell Sage NOT to use the USB-UIRT and use HIP for everything. And then you'll probably find settings in HIP to help you with your first problem. Sorry-I don't use HIP so I can't be more helpful.

mike1961,

Were you ever able to resolve the issue with using Sage and HIP simultaneously? I would also like to use both and have Sage control everything Sage and only have HIP respond or function when 1 application is loaded and to only control that application. I am referencing the Mplayer support for trailers in the MovieTimes plugin. I want HIP to sit silently in the background until mplayer is launched and then it can control all functions in mplayer until it is closed and then all control is returned back to Sage for input/blasting for the UIRT.

Is it possible at all? I am sure that HIP would have to be "aware" of Sage and not to take control of the UIRT so long as Sage had focus.

I would imagine that if you program only MPlayer in HIP and remove the keys in HIP that work with everything(master control keys?) - like the numbers - then HIP would only become active with MPlayer. Just a guess as I only use it with my MCE remote and receiver and only with SageTV currently.

Thanks Bob. Do you know if HIP is friendly enough to let Sage have control of the UIRT exclusively and only grab control when needed for an app (maybe a silent listener)? I use the UIRT with Sage now and it is used for input and blasting via Sage. In your installation did you have to program HIP to control Sage and even if you did, is Sage able to still use the blasting functions to change channels on an STB if you have one?

I don't have any personal experience with this it just seemed to be logical to me.

I did have to program HIP because I wanted to use the send message functions rather than just use Keyboard equivalents however I do not use the blasting functions of the MCE reciever. I use Firewire to change channels. I got started down the firewire path until I found all of my channels that I'm interested in watching are 5C'ed so I just use the chanel changing functions. I use this with a Moto-6412 DVR box and I find the firewire channel changing works better then the remote that comes with the box.

Sorry it just sounds logical to me that if you make sure that HIP has no SageTV section in it and you remove the global control (think that's a better phrase then master) of the buttons like the numbers that HIP would work this way. You would probably be best to ask this question on the HIP forum where you can get the the correct answer however.

Thanks, I'll give it a whirl over there as well. Maybe someone there or someone else here might have had a similar need. Appreciate the feedback!

Just an update on this. I setup HIP to control only Mplayer. It worked fine and left Sage alone for the most part. I am able to FF, RW, Pause and Stop trailers with the remote. I use the Hauppauge remote so I had to setup both of the toggle codes for it to work. The only problem I have is that when I hit stop to stop the trailer, it is like it sends two stop commands and one is processed by Mplayer and stops playback and the other seems to hit Sage and sends me back the the main menu instead of leaving me at the movie listing like I would like. I tested with the keyboard and was able to replicate everything the right way and the way it was working. I may do a little more hiffling to see if I can get my desired results
