Does sage clean up after itself?

I have a quick question...

I notice that when I change channels in LiveTV mode it starts
a new file for every channel. That's fine, but the files were
still there the next day??? Will Sage ever clean these up?
I deleted them by hand for now...

I've noticed before that there are several files in that directory that aren't there in the sage recordings area...

You will notice all kinds of small files from channel changes and shows you watched for a little while and never finished. These will be deleted by Sage as space is needed and you can just ignore them.

ok.. How does sage know which files to delete? I'm thinking of having one directory for all my tv show recordings. The ones from Sage and the ones from My fusionII. Is this a bad idea?? Will it delete files that My Fusion put there if it needs space?

You will want to keep the SageTV files and other files seperate. Sage deletes files that it does not know what they are first (files that don't match ones in its database). I would assume the Fusion ones would get deleted or moved to the errant folder at some point. You can add the Fusion directory to Sage as a Library directory. This way you can access them via the Sage Library interface and Sage will never delete them.

I don't know whether "Sage deletes files that it does not know what they are first (files that don't match ones in its database). " is correct.

I thought all the files SageTv creates are in it's database, just the files which occurr as a result of watching TV live do not have any of the tags like favorite, unwatched, manual record on them making them the lowest priority as far as achiving importance and similiar priority files get deleted by the smallest files first. Since they are just partial shows (hence smaller size) they get deleted first. I don't think having other files in the directory will hurt anything and Sage shouldn't delete them.

You'll need the specifics directly from Jeff (Narflex) to be sure.

But, either way, those files your worried about accumulating as a result of watching live TV will get deleted first when SageTV need more room.
