need help w/firewire HD....

I went through the setup thread and am able to produce the dump file in the Sage video directory, but I get a video rendering exception when I try to tune the channel within Sage. I'm able to playback the dump.mpg file in WMP, but nothing in Sage. Channel changing through firewire is working fine and I tried pushing the tuning delay all the way out to 5000ms. It seems like I'm missing something obvious here.

Also, since Sage 4 is supposed to support .ts streams, is it possible to create a graph to just pass the ts file directly (without parsing, demuxing, then re-muxing to the dump filter)? Is everyone else that's running this setup successfully using the graph outlined in the pdf in the setup post?

I tried searching, sorry if I missed a thread, I'd appreciate any help or a point in the right direction. Thanks.

My new best friends, lol... I guess I was using the guide for version 3 and prior. This setup of just dumping straight to TS makes much more sense and I'm able to tune through Sage now without issues. I figured out that the HD channels I was trying to view during testing before (INHD, INHD2 through Comcast) must be encoded, because I couldn't see them through VLC either. I'm able to get the network channels in HD perfectly though. Guess I can't record or timeshift any documentaries about the arctic tundra in HD

One more question out of curiosity, when I try to tune an encoded channel, it still creates a file and the file grows like a "tunable" channel does, does this mean it's still writing the actual data and there's just no way to decode it to a readable stream? Thanks again.

I do miss the ability to record INHD1/2, but there are some excellent HD shows that are available on PBS, but not near as many.

When cable cards/readers come out for PC's, shouldn't we be able to get around any encoding?

Good to know. Your problems were the reason I wrote the new guide. I ran into them as well and spent days getting around them. As far as files growing like normal -- I dont know. I know that on my encrypted channels -- depending on the channel - I get a frame every 5 seconds or so. Could be enough of a feed to make SGR think it is getting something. Dont know for sure. Welcome to the FW HD club!
