Why does Sage add channels without confirmation!!!
Sage has an annoying habit of adding new channels to my Dish lineup without confirmation or some sort of a message. What happens then is that Sage tunes to a channel that I don't subscribe to and records a red banner for days. The blaster can't tune channels because the STB is waiting for "up" or "down" key. It would be nice to have some kind of a warning about the lineup change.
Thanks, Mariusz |

Pardon me if I'm being dim, but if this is a channel that you don't subscribe to, why are there recordings set there that Sage is using? Or is this Intelligent Recording doing that?

I occasionally have seen the same thing with my DirecTv lineup except I don't get recordings on them. Same annoying problem on just a regular Sat box. Everytime the pay basketball, football, international, etc. channels become active or change again the listing changes. Not a biggy but I wish it would not do that. I have a funny feeling that Sage isn't doing it. It is the guide service changing what Sage has told it to send.

This happens to me too with directv. They may offer some new channels from time to time and they get added to the guide without my authorization. Since i don't use IR its not a biggie. With dishnetwork it is more of a problem because as the thread starter noted-dish requires an up/down command to change those channels while directv will accept a regular channel change....

Cox cable occasionally changes their channel lineup on me as well. Sage picks up the changes from Zap2it and adds new channels to my lineup as well as enabling any channels that moved whether or not they were disabled before. I don't use IR but if a new channel carries one of my favorites Sage will begin to use that channel to record from. If that new channel is one I don't subcribe to then my recording is an hour long message to call 1-800-xxx-xxxx in order to subscribe.
So, the short version is that I would also like a message from Sage whenever there is a change to the lineup so I can reconfigure it as soon as possible. |

same here with bell expressvu in canada....I have to keep track of the added channels and disable them. If the default was to have them disabled, then it would be just fine. I can figure out what channels I have and enable if necessary. I wish they wouldn't screw with the lineup so often.

Yeah I run into this many times... on a system like sage, they should not be activated when they are added. It's a definate design flaw.

Whether new channels are activated or not the most important thing would be for Sage to let the user know there has been a change to the lineup. If they were deactivated by default the user may never know they were added since they won't appear in the Guide.

Sounds like it happens to enough of us that we should send a request or 'bug fix' to sage

Put me on the list. Last year, my cable company redid their entire channel lineup, almost every channel changed to a different number. This caused a huge problem with SageTV. It took me a while to figure what was going on and then had to reconfigure the EPG settings.
I would like a pop up warning when EPG channel lineup has been updated or changed. An alternative would be an email mailing list to inform us when zap2it has changed something that affects certain areas.

Add me to the list, lost 3 days worth of recordings because the dish receiver was stuck on a channel it didn't get.

Same problem here, on Dish Network.
So how do we bring this to the attention of those who can fix it? I'm not sure it's a bug so much as a feature request. -Chris
