Turning On Debug

I was experiencing some odd behavior tonight, but since I am using version 1.4.10 I am not generating a log file. Is there any way to turn on the generation of the sage_X.txt file?

FWIW, I have a two tuner setup and was trying to record SG-1 (via a manual recording). Somehow, SG-1 was displayed as being recorded on both tuners. This happened more than once (at the 8:00 and 9:00 CDT showings). These two recordings seemed to be slaved together (if I tried to tune another show, I was asked if I wanted to stop the recording and a YES stopped both, if I selected CANCEL RECORDING then it cancelled both). At the 9:00 showig, the progress bar was green for the first part of the recording (up to where I cancelled it) and then red from that point on. As the recording progressed, the red bar got longer and there was no white bar showing what had been viewed. It was more than a little confusing, which is why I wanted a log.

Thanks

- Jonathan

p.s., the way I wolved the problem with the progress bar was to cancel the recording, deleting ALL the files for the show, and then restarting the recording.

It happened again

I just got SageTv to do it again. I was watching a program on SAGE2 and a manual recording was scheduled on SAGE1 at 8:00. Just before 8:00 (7:59:59+?) I changed the channel to the one SAGE1 was going to use for recording (SAGE2 now on channel 12 and SAGE1 is going to record on channel 12). I jumped back to the guide and noticed that I was recording on both SAGE1 and SAGE2.

Here is a snapshot of what I saw:

Can you confirm it says V1.4.10 in your System Information (just want to be sure you upgrade applied OK)? How close did you have to do it to 8:00 to get it to work? (I'll be much less concerned if this requires split-second timing on the part of the user)

The software version is "SageTV V1.4.10."

I don't know how close I was to the start of the show, but I did have a portion of the previous program recorded. I will try to force the problem tonight, but as I have been able to manifest this problem twice in as many days I don't think this requires very close timing.

Can you give me the steps to reproduce it please? If I can reproduce it then I can just slap my debugger on it and have an answer in a jiffy!

I was just able to reproduce it and the timing is not very tight:

I had a show marked to record at 9:30 (it was a Record and not a Favorites, if that makes a difference). At 9:24, I changed the channel to match the one that will be recorded. Now I have SAGE1 going to record at 9:30 and SAGE2 is tuned to the channel that will be recorded. At 9:30, I saw the standard "glitch" that you see when SageTV starts recording. I went to the Guide and saw this:

I do have two copies of the show being written to disk. I haven't tried this with a Favorite recording, but every time I have had this problem I have been using a manual recording.

p.s., now that the show is over, I have two instances of the show in my Sage Recordings list. I was kind of expecting only one. The file names are -0 and -1 in the directory, too.

FYI, I just tried to see if the problem existed with a Favorite and it does not. SageTV moved the program to match the tuner that I was using.
