.FRQ File Question

I'm still trying to get Sage to work with my Cinergy 1400 DVB-t card. The card works fine. I've tried the channel scan in the source setup but no channels are discovered. The .frq file is completely empty so I have tried to create my own using the one you posted for the Cinergy 2400 DVB-t card. I've changed the frequencies to reflect BBC1, BBC2, ITV & Granada Men & Motors. When I go to the program guide the four channels are listred but when I select watch now I receive the following error "There was an error playing GMTV ERROR (-10): No encoders can tune the selected station."

I'm guessing that my .frq file is incorrect. I know that the station frequencies are correct but confused about what the "pp is program" means within the .frq file.

I bought 4 PVR cards, a MVP and the Sage software and I've only got it to work with analogue channels.

Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

When you run the Cinergy Digital 2 application and you look in "channel info" what is the "service id" number for that channel.
That is what the "pp is program" is.

Hello Ian,

Thanks for the help. One slight problem. I'm using Cinergy Digital 3 (beta) as 2 struggled to find channels. I've looked in the application and can't seem to find the Channel Info. Cinergy Digital 3 has scans and stations neither of which seem to list anything other than the station name, its frequency and the date it was scanned.

Any thoughts?

I'm just downloading digital 3 now so I'll what the story is.

Just for the record I don't have a Cinergy 1400, I have a Leadtek LR6650 which is what a Cinergy 1400 is ..
Also I'm in Australia so our freqs and service id's are different.

For the record my LR6650 aka DTV1000 ( for all those in Australia ) does not tune in the current version of Sage.

Back shortly

Your right - No info about the channels in Digital 3 app.
They are keeping the info somewhere on the computer it's just a matter of finding it. It's not in their own directory.
I'll keep looking..

Back to you tomorrow

Cheers

I found the info.

When you scan your channels and added them to your "stations" go back to the viewing app, select a channel and them right click the viewing window and select "signal information" the ID's will be shown on the left hand side of the viewing app.
Use the SID for the "PP" in Sage

Cheers

I am using a couple of imports (Dynamic Menus, Comskip, Info Popup, Multi-function Stop); but I used the same ones with v4.1.4 without any problems. I loaded the stock STV on all MVPs to see if the problem persists. I also noticed that the UI is very fast on the MVPs with v4.1.6 and the stock STV, but when I load the Dynamic Menus import the UI slows down considerably... this could very well be causing the freezing. We'll see how it goes without any imports.
Well I'm back to version 4.1.4 so that my MVPs don't freeze (not all the time) when changing channels. The UI also doesn't slow down in 4.1.4 when using the Dynamic Menus import... maybe I'll turn on debugging and try v4.1.6 again to see if I can find something, but it was important to switch back to v4.1.4 so that my family could watch TV (no TV = not a happy family).

I am seeing SageTVService using 100% CPU upon initial start-up (even after a reboot). Is anyone else seeing this? I wonder if it has something to do with my Java version (1.4.2_10) or my NVidia video drivers (81.98).

MediaMVP/port 16867

Hi,

After upgrading from 4.1.4 to 4.1.6 the MVP can no longer boot. I had the same problem with 4.1.5 and 4.1.4, I eventually got it working by doing a clean install and having to setup everything from scratch. I don't really want to have to do all that again.

Using Ethereal I can see that the MVP is sending out multicast requests looking for a service on port 16867. A netstat -an on the SageTV server PC does not list this port as in use. I saw the same problem with the 4.1.4/4.1.5 installs that didn't work.

I'm running SageTV as a service. I can see it's binding to ports 31099 and 42024 which I think are also used by the MVP once it's found the server.

Any idea how I can get port 16867 enabled without having to do a clean install ?.

Cheers

Gary

Hello Ian,

Excellent, many thanks for that. However still no joy. The signal quality and strength are 100% and 93% respectively. I'm only trying to configure two channels (BBC1 and Five). Each time I go to the Program Guide and try to select a channel via "Watch Now" the following error message appears:

"There was an error playing Borris Johnson and the Dream of Rome: Error (-10): No encoders can tune the selected station.

Are you using the standard drivers or something else.

Any thoughts?

I only get a "No Signal" when I select a channel in Sage. I have not seen that error you have but then we don't have an EPG so perhaps yours would be "no signal" if you didn't have the EPG setup.

I'm using the drivers and app from the beta release.

The Cinergy app also tells me I have 100% and 93% on all channels.

I suspect that Sage is not accessing the card correctly. I'm not aware of anyone that has DVBT working in the current SageTV that has a Conexant 2388x based card that are using Conexant Drivers.
Those that have reported DVBT working are using cx2388x based products that don't use standard Conexant Drivers. EG. Dvico, Hauppauge etc. or some other chipset.

We might just have to wait a bit longer before the fix is found.
If I find a work around I'll let you know.

Cheers

Enable debug logging with the property debug_logging=TRUE in the Sage.properties file. Then there'll likely be some error in there indicating why the server sockets didn't open up on the other ports. I've seen logs that have BindExceptions in them before (which indicates something else has the port open). But what I really need after that is someone to run netstat to find out what process has that port open still.

Hi Jeff,

I'm glad I'm not the only on having boot issues with my MVP since 4.1.5. I was beginning to think I was going crazy!

I've reverted back to 4.1.4 but will try installing 4.1.6 again so I can run netstat and hopefully find what process has the port open. My Sage server does have a few other services running on it that may be causing the probpem (HTTP, FTP, Remote Desktop).

It's the name of the tuner in Sage with "-0.FRQ" on the end (hyphen zero dot FRQ, no quotes). Include any spaces in the name in Sage.

Is the channel in Sage mapped to the same Channel Number in the FRQ file?
Have you used a lineup?

@Gplasky and Opus4,

Bot your tricks for getting the MVP's STV to stick didn't work. The MVP looses it's STV setting after every reboot.

I'm hoping for more suggestions!

Cheers,
