Screen Does not Fill TV...
I'm currently trying to get SageTV configured on my HTPC and am having a problem getting the screen size correct. The screen, including the windows XP desktop, does not fill the TV screen fully. There is a 1" black border around the entire screen. I am running Windows XP with a PVR-250 Card and a Geforce2 MX with s-video output. I have tried going into the screen adjustments within the display properties, but I only have the option of moving the display and not resizing it. I am curently running at 640x480 but if I increade to 800x600 the screen area actually get a little bit smaller. Nothing is cut off at either resolutuin, the screen is just too small to fill the TV.
Any help on how I can expand the display area to fit my TV screen would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob |

With the older nVidia cards you need to use something like TVTOOL to do overscan.

I don't think so. TVTOOL is actually interfacing with the onboard TV out chipset where Powerstrip interfaces with the GPU.

Thanks for the info. Would powerstrip also do the same thing?

Upgrade your NVIDIA drivers, that should give you the resizing option.

I upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers, Version 45.23 and this did not give me the option. I am still stuck with only screen position and no option to resize. I can zoom in on the screen but it still leaves the outer black border...
I also downloaded tvtool and when I run it, the screen starts flickering (actually it is rapidly scrolling vertically) so badly that I can not read it and I need to reboot. Does anyone have any advice on how to get TVtool to run or other alternative programs that can resize the image to make it fit the TV? Any other help would be appreciated. -Rob Last edited by R_Andersen; 09-01-2003 at 12:41 PM. |

TVTOOL defaults to PAL just select NTSC and fullscreen.
Poof! no more underscanned tv out! ;-) |

Good that this post re-surfaced. I think my problem is along the same lines as this one. I have a SDTV that only the top and bottom have the black borders on. The 66.93 drivers allow you to increase the picture size but it does it in width and height (proportionally). How do I JUST increase the height so that I don't lose some of the picture on the left and right side? I tried different resolutions but seem to have the same problem. Currently I'm at 800X600. TVTool? I heard that powerstrip wouldn't work for me since I'm only using a SDTV.
