STV Import: MLBDude/Cayars MiniGuide (V0.96b/ Jan 01 2008)
Ok.. Here's the next update for the miniguide plugin.
For those that don't know what the miniguide is.. It's a way to view the listings for whats on the other channels while you are watching TV. The Info will pop up on the bottom of the screen. This was in Cayars ultimate STV and I believe it originally was written by MLBDude. Again.. This comes with no promised support or future enhancements.... My wife reserves the right to pull me from this project at any time! That being said... I'm going to leave 3 versions in case a new version breaks something.. so make sure you grab the right one. Unzip the file to C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3 Or where ever you have sage installed.. Then you can do the import.. You *should* be able to just reimport if you already used an earlier version. Operation: You can hit the guide button (CNTL-X) and the mini guide will pop up. Then you can use the arrow keys to scroll up and down for chanels and left and right for time slots. You can also use the numeric keys to select a channel. If you hit the select bottom it will change the channel the program that is listed. If you hit the record button (CNTL-Y). The program will start recording that program or if the listing is in the future it will schedule it to record. To exit the guide.. do nothing and it will go away after the timeout you have selected for the OSD timeout.. Or you can hit the guide button again. Alternate mode of operation... If you set the start MiniGuide with Arrows in the detailed setup/ customize, then the mini guide will come up when you use the arrow keys instead. Configuration: At the bottom or right before the unsuported extras section of the detailed setup/customize there will be a configure button. This will allow you to: 1. turn off the mini-guide 2. Set whether to use the Guide button or arrow keys 3. Turn off all Icons in the MiniGuide 4. Turn off the Digital "D" icon 5. Turn off the Encoder number icon 6. Set whether or not the time/channel is reset every time you enter the guide. 7. Reverse the function of the Up/Down arrows in the MG Extra config - not in the setup. Cayars/OSD_Rounded_Corners=true If you set this in the properties (while Sage isn't running) the Mini guide will have rounded corners.. Which I prefer.. This is set to false by default from previous versions. I figure this is something you just set once so I didn't put it in the config... Fixes in V0.96b - Done by JREkiwi (Thanks John!) Modded version of MiniGuide 0.96 to work on SageTV 6.3.5 And fixes for L/R arrows not toggling Detailed Info in 6.3.5 Changes in V0.96 Added the ability to reverse the function of the UP/Down arrow keys in the miniguide. I was constantly hitting down like in the regular guide to get a higher channel. Now if you want you can configure the Down button to do Channel up. and vise versa... The default is the Up = Channel up. Changes in v0.95 Left and right arrows key will now invoke the mini-guide if you use the arrow key mode. While in the MG if you hit numeric keys it will get the guide data for that channel (To get to channel 7 you can hit 007 or 7{select}) Changed the background to look more like the V4 UI style Fixed the channel icon bleeding into the top border. Changes in v0.94 Added a bunch of config stuff stuff to the detailed setup/customize menu Cleaned up the mini guide somewhat Added the white border to denote a favorite. Added icons to the Display. Changes in V0.93 Added the ability to jump back to the current channel/time after guide timeout. To enable this, set (with sage closed, of course) JB/Reset_MG_Time_Channel=true It should be set to false by default which will make it seem like the V0.92 version Changes in V0.92 Fixed the mini-guide not scrolling for LiveTV, and imported videos, and DVD's CNTL-x (guide command) will now take you to the program guide if you are using the arrow keys mode (bind=false) Changes in V0.90 Added a timout for the miniguide Added support for using the arrow keys. Guide will now jump to the channel you are currently on instead of starting at the beginning Added indicators for if a show is scheduled to be recored (manual) or if it's currently being recorded. If you hit the record button while you are in the mini guide it will start recording that show or schedule it to be recorded (if it's in the future) Known possible limitations: The guide will always timeout. It does not check to see if you have your OSD timeout disabled. I don't think the mouse will close the miniguide Future enhancements I'd like to do.. I'll clean up the display a little and make the recording indicators better. I want to add the 1st run and HD markers to the display. Maybe the watched and don't like as well... well see... Post any bugs/issues/enhancement requests here Have fun.. Jim Last edited by jbuszkie; 01-02-2008 at 07:11 AM. |

Oh my god,
I stumbled upon this thread here at work, and now I can't wait to get home to try this out ... I am a newbie, just built my first PVR with Sage/Hauppauge card. Everything works so far, but when I had to admit to my wife that she can't do the "guide surfing" while watching TV (which she was so used to with the Cable provider PVR) any more, she cursed me and questioned my new toy already. Your MiniGuide looks like a perfect substitution, and now that you made it configurable to show the guide on cursor key press it seems to behave *exactly* like the cablebox pvr. Jim, can't thank you enough. Drool ... -Dirk |

Hi Jim,
same here ... I can use the cursor left/right buttons to scroll through the listings for current channel, but the up/down buttons to change the listing to another channel don't work. I tried both bind modes. What's worse is that the normal EPG guide won't come up any more, even with the setting Cayars/bind_mini_guide=false. The guide show when I select it from the Sage main menu, but neither ctrl-x nor the assigned button on the remote brings it up. Dirk |

Ha! My evil plot to mess with your minds has worked [Evil laugh]!
I'll take a look and see what I messed up! I never actually tried to *change* the channel with the miniguide.. I very well could have broken something.. Sorry... I'll try to fix it tonight... Jim |

Ok.. I just reimported the 0_90 version to the stock sageTV3.xml and it seems to work fine for me??
I can watch some live TV.. then when I hit CNTL-X the miniguide pops up. Then I can up/down arrow and when I hit enter on a different listing, the channel changes?? What Imports do you guys have? Now the Regular guide not working when bind=false is a *feature* that I will fix... But I'd like to know why all you guys aren't working??? |

Yeah, maybe it's conflicting with another plugin ...
I have installed: - dynamic menus - webserver - imdb search - cpu/mobo info - exit sage - multifunction stop - multispeed skip Dirk |

Working fine here. Downloaded to my STV V3 folder, extracted. Backed up both properties files and Sage STV 3-5.xml. Imported, which created 3-6.xml. Hit my "Guide" button on the Harmony 880 and the Mini-Guide popped up..."Arrowed" up and down to cycle through the channels, hit "Select" and it tuned to the channel. Hit "Select" while viewing TV and the standard Sage menu popped up and allowed me to open the normal "Program Guide".

What other imports did you have? I"m glad to see someone got it working and I'm not completly off my rocker!
And was it a beta or the standard 4.1.3 release? Thanks, Jim |

I am using 4.1.3 Standard, and did not install 0.80/0.81 previously ..
I'll revert to original sageTV3.xml tomorrow and install the miniguide first. If it works, I'll enable all plugins step-by-step, maybe I can figure out which one clashes ... Dirk |

I noticed that too. After I posted above, I opened the guide and it wouldn't scroll. I let it time out and tried again, and it worked.
