Anyone else seen this: Slo-Mo playback

Several times now, I start a playback of a recorded show. Odd, but the thing is in slow-motion: slow flicker-free video and the sound is tone-shifted (like a record/tape played more slowly than it was recorded). For MPEG, I guess this is a screw-up in selecting the sampling rate.

In all cases so far, after 2 or 3 stop, switch to a different stored recording (which are always OK), then back to the problem-recording - it will play correctly.

Weird.

yes, but it has only happened for me using my client running through a 10mbit hub and using a powerdvd decoder, on a p3 600 machine. Don't know what the cause is. I haven't bothered changing things to see though.

Ran into the exact same problem last night! What my problem was somehow Windows Media Player was trying to play the same DVD that Sage was. After I shut down WMP, Sage played the DVD perfectly. WMP needed to be told to never play automatically. This might not be your problem but the symptoms are the same.

No, I was merely doing a playback on the server PC. How did WMP get launched?

No other programs running. I can add that if, when it is playing in slo-mo, if I hit pause, resume, stop, reverse, etc. it will not correct itself. Only playing back some other recording then coming back again to the one that was playing wrong cures this.

No, but it should be a feature (minus the sound) I have to press "Pause" repeatedly for slo-mo.

Apparently by itself! It detected the DVD and wanted to play it. I had switched DVD drives and this maybe triggered the auto launch.

Was the playback also in WMP too under the Sage UI?

I don't think wmp was launched when I've had the problems. I was just asking to view a recording. Not using the CD drive. Have no DVD in that PC.

I am having the same problem. I have restarted Sage and the computer, but it still does it. Sometimes the very same recording plays OK.

I don't know where to start trouble shooting.

It's very intermittent - so a bug report will be unfruitful?

I have trouble seeing how Sage can be responsible. I have not downloaded any new version for some time. I thought perhaps it is a virus of some sort. But a virus check did not find anything.

I went ahead and updated WinXP, which I had not done in quite a while. Maybe all that restarting the computer may have fixed something, at least so far it has not happened again.

Huh? Sage controls the playback. No other software is burdening the CPU. No viruses.

Me too - it hasn't reocurred for several days now.
