ATI Decoder Lockup Problem
I am running a client in the bedroom (Sempron 3200+, 1.2Gb Memory, ATI x700 Video card connected by VGA and DVI to a Samsung 32" LCD) For some reason I decided to mess around with my video settings via Catalyst Control Center and now every time I try to use the Cyberlink/ATI decoder to watch my HD content it plays for a few seconds, then freezes. The time bar continues on at the bottom, but if I try to stop the video, reload the media player, or close Sage I have to kill it via Task Manager. When I use the Nvidia Video Codec it works fine, but I want to use the ATI Codec because it looks better. I reinstalled everything, uninstalled and deleted the Sage directory and reinstalled, and reloaded the Catalyst driver to no avail. Why I thought I had to mess with a working system I don't know.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dennis |

ATI
Is there a chance that there are updates available for the Catalyist drivers?

Thanks Guy. Yeah, I have the newest Catalyst drivers. Last night I tried a system restore(no change), upgraded the ATI decoder, installed the sonic decoders, uninstalled/reinstalled Java and Sage, and now I think I finally have it to where it won't lock up on me. I don't know which was the fix. I am still having the problem where it gives me a "no disk" error and also a "playback" error when I am using overlay, but I'm a lot happier now.
