New mobo & X1300 = Studdery HD

I just bought a new ABIT NV8 mobo so that I could run my X1300 pcix card and can not get smooth HD video from my fusion3 or when watching past HD recordings. On my old system using a Via chipset and a 9800 pro I had no probs and smooth playback. What is wrong here?

How does video look when you watch TV using the Fusion software?

Btw, isn't a 9800 pro better than a X300?

Update: I re installed everything from the OS up and nothing has helped but I did make a few discoveries. I believe that the problem is the x1300 or the 5.13 driver or both. I found that while using an interlaced res I can not use overlay at all which I found while using my pc moniter gave pretty smooth playback. Again all is great when using the fusion software in either dxva or software mode.

Here some questions that might help narrow things down.

Regular SD video works ok?
Are you using VMR9 or Overlay?
DxVA acceleration is on? (you can check by clicking on properties of the Nvidia tray icon that should pop up whenever you play video)

1. SD works great.

2. I am using VMR9. I now have Overlay working and I get better playback of HD with it but not completly studder free, I really do not want to use overlay because the Nvidia decoder will not stretch my sd content, it will work if I change it to animorphic in the nvdecoder tray icon but as soon as I play a movie in Theatertek it reverts back, I only know this from past experence lately I can't even get the tray icon to show up while using sage.

3. Since the tray icon will not show up I cant see for sure if DXVA is running but the 33% cpu use shows that it probably is.

hmm... Not sure what to tell you.

The only thing I can suggest is to try various decoders (cyberlink, intervideo and maybe Sonic) and see if anything helps. I would do this in overlay mode first, until I found something that worked well, then test VMR9.

BTW, you can probably access the nvida decoder properties by downloading and running Filtergraph. It's a little program that shows all the various filters you have installed (nvidia decoder properties will be under Directshow -> Nvidia Video Decoder)

Thanks but I ended up finding that same program on my own. The strange thing is that using it I can pull up the filter settings but it doesent do anything. as far as it knows I am not even using the decoder and any changes made have no effect.

I found the that If i switch the deinterlacing method in the ati control center to weave(no deinterlacing) I get perfectly smooth playback BUT I get extreme combing. I am begining to think that I may have to get a more powerful card to take advantage of AVIVO.

Did you ever get your x1300 working correctly? I'm thinking of putting x1300's in my clients. I thought I read something about a driver update improving video playback but the reveiw was using an x1800 (i think).

thanks

Did you get a pro or xt?

I guess I find it interesting that an x1300 does not have enough power to perform adaptive deinterlace with 450MHz core and 12+GB/s memory bandwidth.
I wonder if the x1300pro with a 600MHz core would work?

Maybe its a moot point with an x1600pro being $115 shipped (only 25 more than a x1300pro).
