Newbie Simple Question

Just installed the trial version of SageTv. Already am testing BTV and GBPVR and have to say that I love Sage and think it will be the winner with my wife for ease of use etc. But... I am having trouble with one or two issues..

1. I know this has to be simple, but... How do I get Sage to display on my TV while still being able to use the computer monitor for computing? It was very easy with GBPVR and I assume there is a simple option I am missing here. Essentially, I want the option to always display Sage TV on the TV in fullscreen mode if possible. I am using a geforce fx5500 card and currently am in dual view mode. All I want to do is use sage on the tv... it has to be something simple.

2. Whenever I go to fullscreen mode on the computer, it starts to lock up and slow down a ton. Haven't had these problems with the other programs. Have plenty of RAM on this machine. Can't figure this one out either.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Update

Ok, I solved the problem of displaying on the TV by selecting "Auto-select" under my "Full Screen Video" options in nvidia. I don't think this is the preferred way to solve the display issue above, and I am sure there is something more basic I could do, but until someone tells me the "right" way to display on TV, I will live with this.... BUT

This creates a problem that I dont understand... Whenever video is playing on the TV, any menu's that are to be displayed over the picture flicker a few times and go away. Meaning, when you are watching TV, you can normally see the menu of options showing the channel number, point in the show, and menu options where you could record etc. These display fine on my monitor while video is playing, but not on the TV. Please help.... Sage doesn't do me much good if I can't see the channel number or the options while watching a channel.

FYI: My wife found SageTV to be easy to use, relatively, but GBPVR was a soundly rejected - logic flaws and bad UI.

If you are trying to display SageTV on a 2nd monitor (your TV) w/o affecting the 1st monitor, then you may need to check some of your driver settings and display properties. I have mine set up to have the Windows desktop extended to both monitors w/the driver mode set to Duaview with Full Scrren Video disabled -- you don't want it trying to mirror/clone/etc.

If you are using SageTV with 3D Acceleration enabled, then you will have to set the TV 'monitor' as the primary monitor in Windows' Display Properties, or else the 3D DirectX acceleration will be decelerated quite a bit.

You are almost there with my answer, but I seem to understand the complex, and not understand the simple...lol. I get the expanded view idea fine.. I know how to do the settings in nvidia etc. But, my question is more simple. When I am in this "expanded view" mode... how do I send the sagetv to the tv and off of the monitor? and how do I get my taskbar etc. off of the tv and back on the monitor only?

Simple questions, need simple answers for a simple thinker...lol

Ahhh... the simple answer for that would be "click & drag" -- just move the window or taskbar to where you want it. Oh yeah: turn off Full Screen mode in SageTV before trying to move the window.

This assumes that the Display Properties are set to use "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" & that each monitor shows a separate section of the Windows desktop.

ok.. great... 99%of the way home. Im on a different computer right now so can't do it, but if I recall, when I do that, my windows task bar extends onto the tv monitor. How do I keep it on the computer monitor only? With that answer, I think I will be sufficiently versed in the simple.

Thanks.

When Sage is in full screen doesn't it hide the task bar? It does on my single TV ouput (no monitor)
