Lightbulb Which STV is right for me/you

I've decided to post a poll that compares the various .STVs to help me with my decision. I have been trying out SageMC, but it has a few bugs and little things that are missing. So, while I keep an eye out on your comments I will try Meekell's. Hopefully you guys can help me make the right decision for my needs.

Feel free to post your suggestions on the bottom and let me know if I missed any important STVs in the poll. I am just basing this off the thread by Opus4. These STV

Please only vote if you have atleast tried these customizations. Make sure and leave feature specific comments ie: "This STV lacked showing the Watched Icon in the Guide." (you get the point).

Your choices:
  1. Original Sage STV
  2. Malore's STV
  3. Meekell's STV
  4. SageMC STV
  5. GermSage STV

FYI SageMC should not have any bugs at this point. If you find some post in the forum. There is a good chance it is just new user error. Also, for each thing that is missing, there are several other things added. At that point is is just user choice.

I am still running 2.8 but planning to finally upgrade to 4.1. I've been running Cayars and I really like it. I don't really use any of the advanced features like external apps etc. Basically the things I really find useful:
- full integrated comskip
- multiple views and easy navigation for the recordings list -- i especially liked the view with shows listed on the left, and individual episodes on the right, with watched episodes automatically moved to the bottom (even if newer)
- disk free space indicator
- first run / watched indicators visible everywhere, including the guide
- good conflict information/resolution

I have tried SageMC (with 2.8 only). I like the look of SageMC, but I find the navigation overly simplistic, and that it sacrifices info for "cleanness" too much. I prefer the extra info and hierarchical style views in Cayars more. This is just a matter of taste.

With 4.1, I am looking for something similar to Cayars. Don't need any extras like weather/RSS or DVD library support, though. Comskip, good nav, and a good balance between amount of info immediately visible and "cleanness".

I've been having alot of random problems with SageMC... I am not sure if it is truely the STV's fault though. I think it may be something weird with my hard drives failing or something.

What happens is i will randomly lose menus in areas (for instance today when i selected "set don't like" it ended up with a small bubble of nothing instead of "set like" like it should).

The little SageTV icon was left spinning for ages, and the CPU was maxed out. Had to CTRL-ALT-DEL (man they should make that a button on my remote)

An STV runs in a way that it can't cause problems with Sage that way. Well not easily . I would suspect a SageTV or system prolem if the Sage spinny icon is coming up.

Yay for the two votes!

I wouldn't even imagine that I'd (GermSage) be on the LIST, nevermind have someone other than me chime in on it. GermSage is just a little personal project to mold my PVR into something that I want, but that a small handful of people wanted too.

It's not worthy! It's not worthy! But thanks for the consideration!
Cheers,
-Greg
