Grasping the concept?

I'm just about to take the plunge and buy Sage, plus a couple of clients, and I can't quite get my head round the concept of the channel line ups when used with multiple capture/tuner devices. So your help would be appreciated:-

If I set up a second source using the same tvtv account details I used for the first source, it steals it from the first. When I change channel to a channel I set up within the first source it tries to do this using the second source.

I have my first Hauppauge PVR USB2 set to receive the composite input from my Sky satellite box and a second USB2 receiving the composite input from my TPS French satellite receiver. When I select a Sky channel I'd like Sage to select the correct USB2 as input then change the channel on my Sky box. And visa versa for the TPS French channels. At a later date I'll incorporate my other satellite receiver on a third USB2. This will have a number of duplicate channels available that Sage will be able to select if either of the other sources are busy recording or playing something else.

Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Confused - Yes I am - So sorry if I haven't explained myself very well.

Cheers,

Nigel.

Far as I know the channel line up must be the same for all tuners.
The addition of tuners allows you record programs other than what you are watching, or record more than one program at a time.

Normally, you can have multiple lineups in SageTV, but I _think_ you can only have 1 tvtv lineup.

Ahh! so is it the tvtv lineup that's causing the confusion? Could I have a second tvtv account for the second source - ie the French TV from the second sat decoder.

I'm trying to simplify all the different decoders and sources of video input by using Sage as the common front end with the same remote for everything. So, if my wife or daughter want to watch France 1, Sage will do all the channel changing and source selection.

I am pretty sure (I made a comment during the beta) that the limitations of TVTV is just 1 username/password, and 1 lineup...

You may still be able to do a second lineup with XMLTV for either of your sources (probably sky -- there are a lot more than 60 channels on SKY and 60 channels is the TVTV limit!)
