RF Remote possible?
I've currently got Dishnetwork that has an RF (radio frequency) remote (not IR). Is there a remote that works with SageTV that support RF?
I currently have ALL my TV's connected by coax to one box (dishnetwork). Would like to be able to use the remote throughout the house from my sagetv box without connecting a sagetv client to each tv. Thanks |

RF Remote
Thanks for the info. I found this about the ATI remote:
http://www.remotecentral.com/wonder/ Both these options are $50.00 Wonder which one will work best? The farthest the RF signal would have to go in my house is probly 20ft. I don't have a big house. <Grin> Thanks |

ATI Remote Wonder 1 is fairly short range, and subect to interference from the PC... I have my receiver on a USB extension cable to avoid this, and probably get about 15ft out of it...
ATI claim 30Ft, but that would be on a perfect day with new batteries, and the receiver nowhere near any other electronic equipment etc ![]() You should be able to get an OEM version for about $20 Froogle search The Remote Wonder II is supposed to be better... but I have no experience (Froogle suggests about $30-40 http://remotew.free.fr/product.htm more info and comparison (Edit: and although I wrote a plugin for the Remote Wonder software to control Sage, I now use Girder so that I can have full control of all remote functions)

I don't think domc is looking for an RF remote for his PC, it sounds like he's looking for an RF "blaster" to control an RF Dish Network Sat box from Sage (like a theoretical USB-URFT

Rf to IR
Anybody use those IR to RF boxes? I wonder what the range on these are. I think I saw one at Radio Shack recently. I forgot about these. Then I would be able to use my current hauppage remote. I believe it had a transmitter at the sage box and a reciever at the tv your watching or something like that.
Believe it or not, right not I've got my RF remote with Dishnetwork connected to an old fashion roof tv antenna that is in my garage attic. I really boosts the signal of the remote. If I could do that with sage, I bet I could get the range up pretty good. Just tossing some idea's out. ![]() Quote: "don't think domc is looking for an RF remote for his PC, it sounds like he's looking for an RF "blaster" to control an RF Dish Network Sat box from Sage" No, I just bought the Sage in a box deal and it's coming tommorow via UPS. I currently have Dishnetwork and I control that box throughout the house with THERE RF remote. I'm looking for a replacement remote for SageTV Box. I do understand that I need a blaster to control the Dishnetwork Box with SageTV. Just trying to duplicate my current whole house watching TV experience with Sage. Thanks Last edited by domc; 12-14-2005 at 08:26 AM. |

I currently use the ATI Remote wonder II and it gives me about a 50 ft ranges and is far superior to the Remote wonder I, I use to use.

This I have found usually means that there is an install problem with Widows. Try reinstalling windows and when you get the option to reinstall or repair choose repair.

Well eventually I bought the leapfrog IR to RF gadget from Amazon.com.
It converts any of my IR stuff to RF, so I'm using that now and it works great for my setup and only cost less than $30. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...lance&n=172282

I had to remove the rfAnywhere software from the startup that showShifter installs, and somehow had 2 ATI wonders in the hardwere manager, and had to delete both and reboot to get things stable. Now there are 2 problems: 1. When I hit TV or DVD, the ATI software pops up. I want the SageTV software!!!! 2. the driver for SageTV, only says it works under 2.x, and I am using the latest, 4.14. Will the old driver work??? Thanks!!! |
