Add name to Create Timed Recording?
Hello all
1. Is it possible to add the name of the show that you're recording under "Create Timed Recording"? Only channel and time are configurable. This would sure be a great feature. (I don't use EPG yet, as there is no internet access....yet.) 2. Can it also be configured to type in the times of the recording using the mouse/remote (Hauppauge 45 button)? It's a bit of a pain having to click all the way to 59min from 1. Heh Hauppauge 350 SageTV Thanks Last edited by Pinan; 12-09-2005 at 09:09 PM. |

Renaming: it is not possible...
But, once the file has been recorded, my webserver add-on has a 'edit show info' function that can allow you to rename a timed recording and give it some sensible information. Entering times... again, without learning Studio and editing the timed recording pages, it is not possible... My webserver add on (I am starting to sound repetitive here) has a function to add a non-repeating timed recording, which might be easier to use...

Thanks for the reply nielm
These seem like such simple things. Do you think they'll be added in the future? GB-PVR has them (I paid for SageTV Full by the way). After all. If you've several show being recorded, it's kinda tough picking out which one is which when you go to play them....you know? I changed the name later in Windows, and now Sage does not see them. Naming them before they're recorded would be ideal. Thanks again. |

If you rename the file, you have to keep the ID number as part of the filename. The best way to do this is while SageTV (or the service) isn't running & it will pick up the renamed file when it restarts. You can do it while SageTV is running, but it is not as fool-proof.

... but for Timed Recordings, even if the first part of the file name (before the ID digits at the end: -12345678-0 ) has changed, I believe it will still be called 'Timed Recording' in Sage.
Sage is designed to rely on a complete Electronic Program Guide which automatically names recordings, and so most people rarely use Timed Recordings, and therefore it becomes a non-priority item to fix... You could always submit a fault report/feature request for both of your issues and see what happens )
