Nvidia GeForce FX 5200: Hardware Decode?

This is a bit of a continuation from another thread. I have the FX 5200, which supposedly has hardware MPEG2 decoding built-in. I'm fairly certain my machine isn't taking advantage of this when I'm running Sage because I'm averaging 80-90% CPU utilization. It's not the fastest machine, so if it's possible to make the 5200 do the work, that's what I want to do.

Help me understand?

Change the 0 to 1 reboot that should take of the problem
Depend on the decoder you install it could be under

By applying the registry settings above you will enabled "hardware assist" mpeg2 decoding. You should see your CPU drop to around or below 20%.

Change Dxma to 1? Change Hwmc to 1? Change both to 1?

Any way I set it, I get an error saying there's a problem with the MPEG 2 decoder. Sorry if I'm missing the obvious here, but I can't get it to work.

I also got a error message when I tried it last night. So, I downloaded the latest Hauppauge Video Decoder. After uninstalling the Intervideo Filter SDK, installing the update, and rebooting for good measure, I could then play video with the Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder selected. However, after doing all this I couldn't see any difference in the CPU usage for my Geforce4 MX.

I discovered my cyberlink decoder which mediaplayer and everthing else uses was messed up; only shows 1/4 of the picture and bad color. Reinstalling PowerDVD didn't fix it, so I did a system restore. I don't know for sure that installing the Hauppauge Video Decoder caused this, but be sure the set a restore point, just in case.

I also tried this and did not find any drop in processor usage until I changed the Renderering Filter from Default to Overlay and restarted SageTV. My CPU usage went from 50-60% on my MX440 based SageTV client to 15-19% and from 30-38% on my Radeon 9200 SageTV Server to less than 9%. As far as picture quality goes, I think the non-accelerated looks better.

Wally, thanks for the tip, but I don't get a picture whenever I use anything other than vmr in either SageTV or the WinTV apps. I have discovered that if I use the Geforce nView setting to clone the monitor to TV out it uses almost 3 times as much cpu (30%) as if the the TV is attached as a second monitor (10% cpu). I can't explain this.
