Case Sensitivity in EPG Listings - V4
I just had Sage TV V4 not schedule a "Favorite" recording because the EPG listing has Changed Case in the Spelling Of the Show Title. I caught it by accident, when I looked at the scheduled programs for tonight. The show in question is:
Previous 6 episodes: -> "Commander in Chief" This week's episode and next weeks: -> "Commander In Chief" The show ids are identical except for the episode number Should Sage TV be differentiating on case for show titles? If it is a necessary comparison to help determine the correct show correct show, then I think you show be able to specify case sensitivity in the advanced options. IMHO. Other than that, I like the cool spinning logo when Sage is thinking, and wish you could locate an entry in the Favorites Manager faster, it could really use a sort by title option, as well as by recording priority. -Steve |

Wow... That isn't cool. Personally I don't think it should be case sensitive at all. Period.
Please submit a real BUG report on this at the web page... Jason |

I did at the same time I posted here.

I got burned a while back when X-Play changed to just X Play, without the dash. Or maybe it was the other way around. I thought they were just doing re-runs for a while until I realized what happened.

I got burned on that one too... Can't blame Sage for renaming the show though I guess.
Capitalization differences definitely should not make a difference though! Jason |

Well if the show ID number stayed the same, Sage should be smart enough to follow though.

I thought shows were recorded by ShowID, not by title specifically. Is this not the case? Rob

Wish I had read this thread before. I discovered this last night, when I was looking to watch "Commander In/in Chief".
I took me about 10 minutes to figure out why it did not record. Now I have 2 favorites for the show. Would be nice to be able to set a Favorite by show id, that way Battlestar Gallactica (1970's) doesn't end up getting recorded, when I want 21st century BG. (I know I could change to first runs only, but I have missed recording some and want to catch em). |

Favorites Bug: Name Capitalization
Some Commander In Chief episodes are "Commander In Chief" and some are "Commander in Chief." You need two favorites due to "in" not always being capitalized. (*merged with above thread*)

Second, if this is the case, it should be changed. I can't see any good that would come of it. ABC would be sued if it named a show CsI. It's just not going to happen that you'd have two identically named (but for capitalization) shows that were different shows. |

Submit a bug/suggestion to Frey (either email or web from on their website). Simply mentioning this in the forums is not a good way to get your voice heard.
Edit: Oh, and I agree with you, and am going to do the same. Jason |

I received a response back indicating they're aware of the issue and that "it will be fixed."

The case sensitivity issue is fixed for V4.1.

I'm not sure if this is reported elsewhere, but there is still an issue with this.
A favorite called for examle "The inside", will record both "The Inside" and "The inside". But, when searching for additional airings (or previously aired), it is suddenly case sensitive.

Are you sure you have versions of that show with both cases currently?
What happens if you go to Schedule Recordings -> Search -> Title Search & search for "the inside"? That search uses the same API call as the search used for Additional Airings. It was case insensitive when I tried it. Or: are you doing the search for Additonal Airings from the Favorite Details screen? That uses a different method for the Additional Airings option on that screen. - Andy

Yes, I currently do have shows with both cases.
I'm not at home right now, so I can not test it with Sage's interface. With Nielm's Web interface though, I see this: The normal "Search EPG" function finds both cases, and so does also the "All airings" search function in the web favorite manager. But when clicking on "Additional Airings" from a "Detailed Information" screen (i.e., info about a recorded show), it is case sensitive. I will verify this at home later tonight.
