SageTV Media Extender

SageTV announved releasing the "SageTV Media Extender" by the end of the year ... Does anyone know if that just an official / supported version of the Hauppauge MVP bundled with SageTV 4?

Thanks, T.

We will make more information available as the release draws nearer. The support will be added as part of a 4.1 release upgrade.

Thanks Dan! Look forward to the update ...

BTW, REALLY appreciate the awesome 4.0 release! You guys have outdone yourselves! With Studio we have plenty to do in the mean time! It's going to be great to see the explosion of Sage plug-ins! Keep up the great work!! It's appreciated.

T.

Does this "SageTV Media Extender" support only include the MVP or will other nicer and more HD looking devices be included?

Awww.... Come on Dan. Spill some beans. you KNOW you want to!

At least confirm or deny that it is (or is not) Hauppauge MVP based. A lot of people will get more excited if there is at least a possibility of it playing HD recordings. If it is MVP based, then we all have a pretty darn good idea of what it will be capable of.

Well we thought Studio would never be released and they gave us a pretty sweet suprise there. Now I think more optimistically about Sage as a company and think they will do the same with the extender and make it more then a glorified MVP.

I too think it will be more glorified---why keep it so secret if it was just a rebadged MVP? now i just need to sell my shuttle and wait

I sure hope it's the Roku Photobridge since I've already got one sitting on the shelf. It's certainly capable of doing both SD and HD, it's just missing the Sage UI.

Yeah, well if we are playing that game, I hope it is a Buffalo LinkTheater since I already own one of THOSE. Jason

Exactly, Matts client works great. If it ain't broke don't fix it! Why waste time on something like the MVP that is already working well when MS is getting ready to start pushing an HD extender for MCE and soon will be pushing cablecard. SageTV has more to lose by not starting to concentrate on HD then to continue to improve an SD product like the MVP. HD is going to be the deal breaker for myself and probably quite a few others here.

Come on Dan! Toss us a bone!

I've got one of those too. I sure would like the HD capabilities of the Roku though.

Yup, I have two MVPs as well. I'm sure Matt's client will continue to fill that need. The onyl thing that could really be added to the MVP interface is some transcoding of unsupported audio/video formats. And honestly, I personally don't think that is a big deal.

I would like to view my divx recordings on my MVP, but I have serious doubts that transcoding could be 100% good enough to satisfy me anyway. I know Hauppauge's transcoder is not...
