Control 4 Receivers
If SageTV can only handle one USB-UIRT, and the USB-UIRT can only transmit to three receivers, how can I control my fourth receiver?

One thing you could do is use a 2nd USB-UIRT. Another user recently found out about this & let us all know. For a link, see the USB-UIRT section of the Information Resources for Remotes, Receivers, and IR Blasters index.
Otherwise, you could use an Actisys IR-200L. But, it might even be possible to use a single USB-UIRT... if you can set each STB to use a different IR code set. The 3 zones only need to be used if each box uses the exact same IR codes and they can't be configured differently. - Andy

If the receivers you are using have a serial port you can also use a serial cable. Could also be called a low speed dataport, or a wide band data port depending on the receiver. Not all the cable companies turn them on, the one where I am does not. I use Directv. Most RCA Directv receivers have them, my old Sonys do too. I like it, no little IR transmitters all over the place, doesn't miss channel changes. If you don't have enough serial ports there are add-in serial port cards with 4 ports for about $20.00 that work fine.

Thanks. I have 3 D10's on order from ebay (so I know the serial cable solution won't work), and an unknown type of unit (probably a D10?) on order from Directv.
I was unable to find a 200L for sale anywhere except directly from actisys, and the price was a little steep ($48). I'll try controlling all four with the single UIRT. If the unit from Directv has the same codes as the D10's I'll get another UIRT. |

I just took a look at the D10 on the Bestbuy website and it has a low speed data port. So, I don't see why it wouldn't work. The cable is real simple. Only uses 3 wires. I made one from an old telephone handset cord, and a 9 pin connector. The wiring diagrams are located at www.dtvcontrol.com

There's a known problem with the D10's - serial control has been disabled by Directv.
