Two Quick Questions (Or a ? and a Suggestion)

1st, this is a strange one to me, and a search of the forums didn't seem to turn up anything... Can anyone explain why, starting with Sage 3.0 Beta 07 (I think) I now have a Frame-Per-Second counter in the upper right-hand corner of my screen? It's a yellow 30 when playing back videos, and when roaming the Sage menus, it's a red 2...

Then there's my second item, which may be more of a future-feature item. Is there a way to reserve a period where Sage will not schedule any recordings? Meaning, each nite between 4 and 5 AM, I want my SageTV to not attempt any recordings. I could accomplish this via a scheduled shutdown of the Sage software, and not use the SageService, then manually restart Sage at 5 AM. But it would be much easier if this could be done in the Sage configuration. Basically, for that hour I have a full defrag scheduled and occasionally Sage finds something to record at that time, which doesn't work out, since the recording is a messed-up jumble of video and sounds.

Also, I noticed in the past that if you say, Keep At Least 5 of a Favorite, then concerning those favorites you've watched 3 of the 5 - But not necessarily the oldest three. It still deletes the oldest of the 5 when the next recording begins, regardless of whether you've watched it or not, rather than remove the oldest *watched* show. I guess this hasn't changed in V3. Maybe it should be a upcoming change, to remove files, taking in account if you've viewed them, or if there's a Watched item that could be removed instead in the same list.

Anyway, help removing the FPS counter is my main concern. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Is there a DirectX setting for that? If that is part of SageTV, I'm not familiar with it.

No, there isn't a way to specify when recordings should not occur.

It is _supposed_ to already delete a watched show before deleting an unwatched show. If that doesn't work properly, then a bug report would be in order.... my memory may be bad, but I don't remember this happening before.

Are there 2 or more separate favorites for that show? If so, maybe the ones deleted are part of a different fav than the watched recordings.

Are you using ffdShow or other post processing? ffdShow has an OSD that you can turn on for debugging, but I've only seen it on the upper left.

Hmmm

I'll have to check into the FFDShow causing the FPS display. However, I believe I've never even installed this utility. I've only heard of it. I did change my MPG / DVD Decoder selection recently, in an attempt to stop freezing which was happening randomly while watching my recordings. However, it's strange that it's on the Sage menu's as well, even before I begin playback of anything. But, since I don't really know how Sage handles it's screen output for the menus, this may still be the cause. I will try another decoder and see what happens.

The freeze I was encountering was totally random. I could watch for two hrs, or two minutes. The audio would continue, but the video would freeze. After about 15 seconds, the audio, too, would stop, and Windows Error would appear. Sage would drop to the desktop. If I had the exclusive screen mode on, I could not get back to the desktop and would have to power off. I've not had enought time recently to deal with it (due to Katrina), so I've yet to determine the problem, or the possible solutions to that one. I updated video drivers, and updated to the latest Beta. I didn't know if this was a coincidence after I installed a Java update, then shortly thereafter a video driver update (Radeon 9550). My system has been solid as a rock for nearly a year, with no hardware changes at all, then this started happening.

Looks like it was the Omega display drivers. Nowhere in the control panel is there a FPS option, but upon removing the Omega drivers and installing the latest ATI drivers, the FPS and random lockups have vanished.

Just to clarify, no matter what codec I selected, Intervideo non-CSS, Intervideo, PowerDVD, Default, etc, the FPS was displayed. Something, somewhere in the Omega drivers was causing it.

Yeah, but it's odd that in no other application or game does the FPS appear. Either way, I suppose I will stick with the official drivers on the Sage machine, and use my 2nd PC exclusively for gaming w/Omega drivers.
