Question Best Chipset maker for TV-Out

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Currently I am running an ATI 9800 XT, a PVR-350, and a PVR-150. I have always had trouble with the S-video out on the PVR-350 and have read on this board that it is a known hardware issue. However, when I try to use the s-video out on the 9800 XT it displays more than just Sage and doesn't scale to the TV. the picture moves so that you are only seeing a portion of the screen on the TV.

My question is what video card manufacturer/chipset has the best compatibility with Sage so that I can move just the Sage window onto the television?

I am also having a problem with Sage refusing to go full screen and I have a feeling that this is due to the 9800 XT as well.

Again Thank you,

John Thero

It's not so much the chipset as it is the drivers. I personally having used both Radeons and GeForces in my system highly prefer the ATI drivers. The drivers should allow you to fine tune the disply onto the tv. If you aren't using it already I would suggest installing the Catalyst Control Center drivers.

Does the CCC add something not available with the smaller, control panel version ?

I'm using an Nvidia card now(for other reasons) but i'm pretty sure that the CCC drivers was needed for me to fine tune the svid borders on the tv. There are some options in the CCC menu that I was unable to find otherwise, were they there w/o the CCC, I don't know, but I couldn't find them at least.

choose a resolution supported by the TV-out of your card, eg 640x480 for NTSC or 720x576 for PAL (other low-scale resolutions may also be supported, such as 800x600 - check the video card docs). You may need to go into Desktop/settings/advanced to find these resolutions...

Other resolutions will result in the TV being a viewport onto your desktop which scrolls around with the mouse (which is what you are seeing).

Oh, and put Sage into Full Screen mode
