volume levels seem too low

I tried this and could not tell the difference
I used 7F01 : 12dB gain
does this setting work with beta V2?

yeah I rebooted and pretty sure I did the key right
added foler MSPAudio then added dword scart1volume
then modified the hexdecimal value
then reboot and not any noticable difference if at all
using the value of 7F01

actually I am parently deaf
cause I restart sage this and damn it was loud
I do not know how I did not hear it this afternoon
I may try the 7901 setting

question on this reg tweak: does this change the volume level of the audio stream in the encoded mpeg file or does it only change the volume at the decoding stage? reason I ask is, if it's the former, then I will have 2 sets of mpeg files--one with low volume before i made the change and one with loud volume from after the change and will have to adjust receiver volume if i switch back and forth between old and new files
not that that would be the end of the world or anything but it's nice to know in advance

The registry tweak changes the volume in the encoded file. For me, this caused my burnt DVDs to be TOO DARN LOUD (to the point of clipping the audio), so I had to back it off.

Worked just fine! But now I have to wait until we go through the whole library of recorded stuff to get it all at the new level. For now we'll have to deal with two different volume levels!

Thanks for the tip. For those of you unfamiliar with the regedit utility. Copy/Paste the end of this message into notepad and save it as a file called "audio.reg". After saving the file, double click it with your mouse and this will add the registry key. This file has the audio set for '7f' which is the loudest setting and you may want to change it.

Damn, I wish I knew about this before. I have my library full of shows that are too quiet. 7f01 is too loud. I will be trying 7a01 next.
