Problems using 2 WinTV-PVR-USB2 at the same time
I am trying to run 2 of these devices at the same time using Sage Tv but here is my problem. I can install each one but for some reason XP calls my second PVR the same name as the first one when I check it in the device manager.
So when I try setting up an additional source in Sage TV it only recognizes one of my USB PVR's Is there a way I can "hack" the registry so I can call the devices PVR #1 and PVR#2 so I can use them both in Sage TV?!? Oh,I first had them plugged into the back of my machine using the USB ports on the motherboard but I went out and got a PCI USB 2.0 card and it is still doing the same thing? Here is my System AMD 3500+ 2 Gig RAM 1 TB hard drive space Socket 939 MSI mobo using Nforce4 ATI 7000 Video Card Windows XP fully updated Any help would be appreciated, TIA Ausm |

I have 2 PVR-USB2 devices connected. While the Windows device manager shows them with the same name, SageTV shows them as "Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 Encoder" and "Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 Encoder #2". You don't see them that way in SageTV? Have you tried updating the drivers they both use & making sure they are both functioning in Device Manager?

You may also want to bring down the latest version of the drivers. The ones that came with my PVR-USB2s didn't handle multiple tuners properly. I got mine a year ago, but that may also be your problem.

According to the device manager they are both listed as "Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 Encoder" and I am using the lates drivers from hauppages site too. I also used the utility to clear out the old drivers and reinstalled them again and it still does the same thing? I am using the 3.07 beta Sage TV also. I am going to give it another try tonight. I have to get both of them working correctly for the upcoming TV season TIA Ausm |

But what do you see in SageTV when you go to Setup -> Source Setup -> Add New Source?

They are supposed to be the same name in the device manager. If you only see one in the Sage setup then check the properties file for mmc/ignore_encoders= and remove anything after the = (make sure Sage is exited and the service if you are running it is stopped when editing the properties file).
