3.09 speculation

Hmmm, I'm bored at work and have been wondering about the next beta release. It's been 2 weeks since 3.07 was released so I'm thinking there is a good chance for 3.09 today.

FWIW, I'll speculate that there will be a number of improvements to OTA HD card support and a lot of work in WMA support including the ability to read WMA tags as well as improvements to the music player interface.

Ok, the first is pretty obvious and the 2nd is really just wishful thinking (But I'm wishing really hard )

Here's hoping for some cd playback/ripping capabilities too--they're in the works, just a matter of when!

I'll settle for focus on all things HDTV and codec optimizing and ....... QAM (even unofficial, unsupported)!! i.e.; enter secret sauce code for QAM.

I'd like to see CD player support, along with AAC encoding supported... I'm still stuck in .5 right now anyway...not enough time to upgrade at the moment.

BTW, do I just install the new beta over the top of .5?

No indeed, not something that is a PVR core thing, in my opinion

Ditto. Although, that's not a bug with just FSE.

Needless to say, at the MINIMUM, SageTV 3 needs to have rock solid FSE and HDTV support to keep up with the standards set by Microsoft MSE. The FF/REW bug is something that Microsoft needs to address in DirectX 9.0d, not in SageTV.

I have a feeling there will be no software release today

3.09 needs to address the serial tuning issue when using both the new and old tuning commands. I was told this would be fixed in 3 but have yet to see it.

Please oh please explicit & discrete settings for HDTV Vs SDTV

I have an Nvidia 6600 graphics card which can handle Hidef offloading, but I'd love to have the option of picking a completely separate set of setting for HiDef Vs Standard

ie I'd love to see the ability to pick FFDWshow with some processing (denoise, sharpen) for standard def, and native nvidia codec using my card for HiDef.

FFDshow on hidef = melted CPU.. :-(

Only two things that have stopped me from recommending Sage wholeheartedly: the FF/RW bug and the fact that since the new betas have come out the library importing is completey messed up.

I would love to see these issues resolved in the next version. The library import bug should halt releases until its resolved.

Any way to reproduce this so we can test this on a larger scale?

Well for me it happens every time I try to import my library... Not everything that is in the folders will show up in Sage. And these are the same files that showed up fine in earlier versions. For example last night I moved all my imports to a different HD and reimported everything into Sage. When it was done I was missing two complete folders, and single files were missing inside other folders. When viewing my movies folder in Sage it says I've got 2 files in it. Then I enter that folder and it shows many more than that.

The whole thing's weird.

That sucks. I cannot duplicate anything like that. Some of it sounds STV related though. Have you confirmed it does this in any STV?

I am currently using V3 STV, with a few of nielm plugins... I was assuming the import directory screen has not been touch in this situation, so I haven't tried with the stock STV.

I have similar problems line Wheemer like mentioned in another thread. I do not get my album list empty although the imports folder is empty and I refreshed the media library.

I'd like to see the DVD player have an optional resume feature (dialog box pops up when you re-start a DVD asking you if you'd like to resume), and have the ability to browse music by nested artist/album.
