x64, new nvidia purevideo and rebooting pc
Hi,
I had been using Sage on Windows XP, the 2nd release of the Nvidia decoders and drivers 77.72 perfectly fine. Last night I got the upgrade bug and upgraded the Nvidea decoders and video drivers. Now, when either Sage or WMP10 tries to play one of Sage's recorded files, my PC reboots. It plays normal AVI's fine, it just Sage files that cause a reboot. Before I start removing all the updates I wondered if anyones else had problems. |

This problem simply went away, as most sage problems seem to do.
So I upgraded to v3, and its back. What could be going on that causes the PC to just reboot? It seems pretty drastic action to take just when playing a video file. |

This is driving me nuts.
Is there anyway I can figure out what is causing reboot? |

There was a thread about random reboots when playing video, you might want to look there.
Off the top of my head, heat is a prime candidate. Possibly power supply issues. Except you're not seeing random reboots, it's when you try and play a file... Hm. might want to try uninstalling the drivers decoders, reboot, and reinstall just the new versions. FWIW, I've been running 3.0 with the 77.72 and now 77.76 drivers and the .150 decoders since they came out on my 6800 P2 2.4 and it's been fine. Are you running XP x64? That would worry me probably. |

The machine with the problem is only running Sage TV Client.
It is a x64 system, and heat isn't the problem. I have had no problem running any of my 32bit apps on 64, apart from Sage. Sage itself is fine, the reboot happens the moment the video appears. I can play normal avi fine, it just appears to be sage created ones. |

I have my questions about the stability of the decoders and or the DXVA decoding in the x64 drivers.

Could be.
Have you tried this? Disable hardware accelleration in the decoders? |

I turned off hardware accel. in sage, which also switched it to overlay.
Alas, no differance. Thanks anyways. |

In the decoders, not Sage.

I feel quite silly now.
I changed the decoders from the Nvidia ones to the Sage ones, and it works. Even with 3d accel and VMR9 on. Thanks for the inspiration, but I should have checked this before posting. |

Sounds like there's a problem with DXVA on x64.
