Unhappy Rescanning import folders doesn't work

I've been struggling with the option to rescan the import folders for a while now. I've made changes to a video import folder, restructured it and added a bunch of videos. However sage refuses to pick up on the changes.

How can I fix this?

Did you delete and re-add the directory or just rescan?

Probably. I'm really not sure what "rescan" actually does.

Delete and readding it worked for me before when I had that same difficulty.

What is Rescan for then? Seems like an option that doesn't perform as it should.

I just removed the directory and watched my movies and shows folders disappear. Seemed promising... I waited till they were completely gone, then I readded the unc path to my video library. I watched the item count increase for both of those dirs, movies and shows. Then when it was done I double checked to see if it had picked up the changes and additions I had made. No dice.

It list the same thing it thought was in those folder as before.

Any other suggestions?

I see the same for my music import folder, it does not "forget" old, deleted files, whatever I do.
I renamed the folder, reconfigured it under detailed setup, restarted sagetv a couple of times...

Any idea?

I also submitted this as a bug.

When I first installed the beta I had one hell of a time trying to get it to read the content properly... I had duplicates of everything at one point. I had to totally rename the folders and strat from scratch.

I never experienced any of this before the beta. There is definately something seriously wrong with Sage when it comes to this.

Start from scratch? Yes, but how? I renamed D:\mp3 to d:\mp3_old and created a new empty d:\mp3. Then I reconfigured the imported folder in sage, restarted sage, but it still shows the old content...

Try shutting SageTV down & setting this property: make_all_mediafiles_local=true. It will reset to false after restarting, but it miht help clear out the old imported media; I don't know about the new files.

This seemed to help a bit, "Music by artist" is empty, but "Music Playlists" and "Music by Album" are not. However when I "go into" an album there are no songs...

I've got the same issues.

I removed the imported directory and most, but not all, of the albums disappeared. But the remaining albums are empty.

this seems to have finally fixed itself with the installation of 3.0.7

3.0.7 didn't fix it for me, I have an empty folder d:\mp3s but I still see the old but empty albums.

check for playlists containing these old songs: delete the playlists and see if they disappear. (this was problem I noticed in 2.1)

Thanks, there were indeed some playlists, but even after deleting all the playlists and deleting the import folder in detailed setup and rescanning the import folders, the album folders are still there...

Scratch that... after mucking around with the folders again, adding new content and organizing it better, I'm back to square one. Sage is all messed up again. Setting the property local*=true does nothing.

Frustrating
